Tough one for Joey, was runnin for 2nd and probably could've won. But the cliff of a cushion that built up bit him and tore the rear up. Anyway, In my opinion that track surface still needs alot of work, sure it'll be fine for wednesday though. Question........will they ever run against the wall again???

According to all reports they were running up against the wall at the allstar show a couple weeks ago.

The track was in pretty good shape all things considering. The track was a sloppy mess and they made the most it. Two groves and really racey. Eldora is always going to have a ledge when it gets that much rain right before the show. Joey tore the rear up by staying out there with the wheel packed full of mud for 8 laps. He should have pulled in and unpacked it,but thats the chance you take.

That's pretty cool, the track owner has to pay the driver of his own car!!!! Way to go, Paul, now lets hope the Home Depot # 20 can match the weekend sweep in Dover!
Fenders are like vacuums... they both suck.

I can't really comment on the track last night as I wasn't there. Johnny Gibson made a comment on the broadcast "They are running 3 grooves high and low and the old Eldora of running the wall is back".
Now with that huge ledge everyone is talking about and things that happened because of it, were they really running the wall? We need to hear from more people that were actually there.
I was at the Allstar show 2 weeks ago and a few were trying to run the wall and were having a real tough time doing it. There was no real rain to dealt with that weekend so there had to be a big difference on what they were up against on the track prep last night for sure. In my oppinion the racing 2 weeks ago was good but not anything like the days of old.

Nowhere near the wall by Eldora standards. 1/2 way up at best in 3-4 and maybe 2/3rds up in 1-2. Nice curb up top if you wanted to go there. You couldnt beat on it,but you could lean on it and McMahan did just that and was fast. Solwold and McMahan put on a great show.

I was there as well and the track def. still needs a lot of work... The majority of the field were running at the bottom of the track with only a couple to the top. I dont really no what to think of the track because maybe the rain had a little to do with it I hope so because if it is like that for the Kings Royal it isnt gonna be much fun.

There was enough room @ the top of the track that you could put a car nose to tail from the wall to where they were actually running (the groove) on the race track.

With two hours of rain right before hotlaps, we were probably lucky to see any racing. It is unfortunate the track received all the rain right before hotlaps. I think we would have seen how the track is shaping up had it not rained. You cannot judge a track after all the rain they got. The last Allstar show showed an improved track.
It sure was enjoyable to hear all the excitement in your feature winners post race interveiw. McMahan was pumped!!!!!!!!!!!!

In hotlaps Haud was up against the wall and was FAST! Then the second set of hotlaps came out and started running the middle of the track. This then put the heavy stuff between the wall and the middle of the track.

Haud against the wall??? NO WAY!!! NEVER WOULD BELIEVE THAT! Here's to hoping the KR is in good shape. Money is tough to come by and if it's going to be bottom feeder racing I might not be making as many trips.

I honestly feel that sometimes on this site, people try to put a track down to try to drum up business
for other tracks in the area. Or that they don't want Tony to succeed in this endeavor of Eldora, or
that they are not a fan of Stewart's so they talk negatively about Eldora. I was there, my husband,
& son were there. We all thought it was a good race and the track definitely was vastly improved over the last race we were there to see. It was such a great feeling to see racing again, and to enjoy
the improvements that were made. Let's build up and not tear down.

sounds to me they made eldora into just another cookie cutter half mile, and took the driver right out of the equasion.

The race for the win was one of the best I've ever seen at Eldora, for 7-8 laps those guys dueled big time, and it was good to see, one high one low, and then vice versa. I've been critical of the track surface earlier, and justifiably so. However I've been going here for over 35 years, and even the old track would have been about halfway down groove last night.
When there is rain right before the program, the cars all start out about 2/3 of the way down the track, and throw the heavy stuff up the track, then a very large ledge develops which they can't push any higher up the track, so the track becomes very narrow. This has happened many times over the last few years. The modifieds and stocks actually probably helped the program last night, believe it or not, the helped push the cushion higher up the track.
First set of hot laps Haud was right up on the fence and flying, to bad the other drivers wouldn't commit up there, the drivers created the track last night by hot lapping where they did, after that it was too late. In my opinion and I've watched hundreds of shows at Eldora so I feel I'm allowed a shot on this, there is just a little too much banking on the bottom. I think they wanted the bottom and top to be a little more even speed wise, and it seems the bottom is still a little favored over the top. If they would just flatten the bottom out a little more, and bank it right along the fence a little more, it could be really good. A guy runnin balls out on the fence and a guy runnin low would be a great battle. Me I'll always pull for the hero runnin the fence, but Solwold and McMahon gave a good preview of what it could be last night, and it was exciting, still to many guys choosing the bottom though. But THANKFULLY, the guy runnin high won! A good job last night getting things done in a reasonable time, considering they didn't start heats until after 9:00 I think, left the track around 11:15, very acceptable considering three divisions.
