If only the owners and drivers had someone to represent, and stand up for what they feel.

C_Shu & KOP .. I was wondering how Kearns determined that also ?
|
CRA A-Main Purse is $12,475.
Official fees aprox $1250.
5x$100 for non transfers is $500
Without any other added costs (and there are a few more) That is $14,225.
Perris Auto Speedway pays USAC $8500 per race.
I come up with $5,775 per race that USAC pays to make sure that CRA stays at their home track for no other reason than this is where the racers say they want to be. I dont know another sanctioning body out there that would do what USAC is doing for the racers and track.
I havent even factored in the Bad a** Billet Aluminum trophies that USAC is going to supply to each track, so that the racers really have something to be proud of. ( I havent actually broke this news to USAC yet, that I have spent more of there money. lol)
I am sure some of you will have some responses about sponsorship and everything else. Those are just the cold hard numbers.
Telling it like it is, has earned me respect amongst the Late Model clan, I hope it does the same here. Not sure Kevin Miller really wants me to be this honest with all of you. But you guys need to know how much USAC does for Sprint Cars out here!!!

Yet again, once in awhile I read a comment or opinion by
someone that makes me ask: "What in the world did he just say?" The PAS is only paying $8500? That is a HUGE wow!
Assuming all of Chris' numbers are accurate, what is the real motivation for USAC to fork out the cash as stated for each race? I never heard of a sanctioning body doing such a thing. Is it to keep another group from moving in? It would seem unlikely because what other group would take such a hit if the track only pays $8500? Since Chris is OK with posting the numbers he has, this must not be a secret among fellow promoters. That in turns brings the question: "Do the other promoters get the same deal too?" One would think if that deal was on the table for all tracks, you would have a full slate of races on the schedule at various tracks. If Chris' revelation isn't known by other tracks on the schedule, one would have to believe USAC's phone would be ringing by those other tracks soon. If I were a promoter and these numbers were new to me, I'd have to think I'd be calling.
Once a regular 'bleacher creature' myself, when I began to do some on-track officiating and then became involved in working with track promoters in the business side of the racing industry, I found it interesting in how the inner workings of operating a track and/or series functioned. Other than the principals of the World of Outlaws pumping $$$$ into that group to keep a major national series afloat, the numbers that Chris is showing is just unheard of for a regional series. Again, if these numbers are accurate, it leaves one to ask: "Just how much longer will this go on"?

Where in the world did you hear that? I have to tell you that since I have become a Promoter, my least favorite saying is " I heard". lol

Oh, I have already heard it from other Promoters and my answer is this.
I too have a racetrack, and I have 2 CRA shows. I will be paying full price for my show? Why? Because I know that Santa Maria is not Perris Auto Speedway. I know that Perris Auto Speedway is the home of 410 Non-Wing racing in California. I know that Perris is where the majority of the teams have said they want to race. Yes, I will have to work harder at Promoting my shows, but oh well. I payed full price last year and did just fine.
USAC is well aware of the Economy out here and they are just doing their part to try and help the Home track of USAC/CRA. I dont have a problem with it. I mean when I go buy a new truck, I know the Construction Company that buys 10 trucks a year is going to get a better deal than I do, and I am ok with that.
USAC's goal is that every track pay the full purse, officials fees and point fund %. Perris had some financial issues, and unlike every other sanctioning body I know, they stepped in and helped. But my goal is to stop the USAC bashing, because I have a lot of information that others dont and it gets on my nerves. I see it from a lot of different views. I am a track promoter that runs plenty of USAC races. I am a series owner that is sanctioned by USAC and I am the CRA Series Cordinator. Not to mention the fact, that I say all the time. "Negativity and Negative post on the Internet, do nothing more than hurt the sport you love. It accomplishes nothing."
My gosh, other promoters are my competitors and I post positive comments about them, yet I keep seeing Negative comments about Racing and it drives me crazy. If I were a potential new fan or racers and I went on a message board first, I would probably by a Boat!!!
So how about helping solve the situation or just sit back and watch what happens.
Did anyone happen to see the results of the 2010 North American Non-Wing Sprint Car driver of the year poll? The first driver in the top 25 on there that is not a USAC non-wing driver is in 21st place. That means the top 20 drivers on that poll are all known for their accomplishments in USAC.
USAC is Non-Wing racing and Non-Wing racing is Sprint Car racing

Ok....14 races at Perris ..USAC is paying over $80000 ....if I were a racer in the midwest...member of USAC...why are we pumping money into Ca. USAC is suposed to be non profit..so where does the money come from to support the racing in Ca,actually USAC is supporting the promoters in Ca...taking not only the obligation of the purse but the points fund.....sorry I just don't buy it

Your facts are probably all true, BUT Im guessing there is more to it, I find it VERY hard to believe that USAC is going to take a $6,000 hit for 8 races (not counting ovals) and not get it back, or make it up somewhere. That approaching $50,000 dollars... I have to think there is some "fine print" somewhere. As far as the National Poll goes, at least half of those guys run more NON sanctioned races then they do with USAC.

i have a question for Mr. Kearns, can you tell me if you brought your 360 series to PAS could the 410's put restrictors on their motors like some of the 410's did up in chico the other night and run with your series? It is my understanding that some of the 410's that were up in chico running the USAC series put restrictors on the motors to make them equivalent to a 360. I know Clauson and Rose did.

At this time, No. I just dont know enough about it, to let that happen. Would have to do a lot of testing first. I know our 3 tracks would be comparable, but as we venture out in the years to come, I would have to think that a track like Perris would need a different size restrictor to keep a 410 and 360 equal, then say a track the size of Bakersfield. Not saying it couldnt happen. I just would like to gather a lot of info and testing before I thought about it.
Equal competition is more important to me than car count.
I know they are doing it up north, but Tommy Hunt is much smarter and more edjucated about all of this than I am. If I considered it, Tommy and Jim Naylor would be the first people that I would call.

Thanks for keeping an open mind on this topic.
Oh yeah, you made a comment about a pair of Arizona promotors that really seem to know their business. Stating that is a good thing they haven't come to California. Maybe the reason they haven't come to California is that they don't want to tangle with you.
