Just my luck! 1st year of actually going to the bowl and I get the letter in the mail for Jury Duty!

Anyway I have two tickets for all 5 nights, Section EE, Row 25, Seats 9 & 10. Would like to sell as a pair. We can ship the tickets or my dad can meet you with them Monday night or Tuesday morning.

Hoping to get face value out of the tickets which is $228.00 Each.

Call 641-423-8726 and ask for Stacy.

Thanks

you should be able to inform them that you'll be out of town next week and in most cases you can get off. Tell them its for business wink

You know, you can show those tix to the court in the next few days and get a postponement for your service. If you wanted to that is. It's not "locked" in and they have made exceptions for previously made travel plans. It doesn't even matter what town you are from they are all the same regarding jury duty. That is if you really wanted to go. Good luck either way, wish I could buy 'em from you.

Wow. Usually with jury duty they want to allow you to do what was planned for so they don't have pissed off jurors.

How much trouble did you cause as a kid? lol

Tell the Magistrate that your excited to be on the Jury, Tell them you hope the people on trial are either black, mexican, asian or gay so to make your decision an easy one! You will be excused. :-)

Not that I'd ever shirk my 'social responsibility' but I've always heard that people who end up on jurys just aren't smart enough to get out of it. Haha

When interviewed one time when I'd been called for jury duty in Los Angeles, I advised that I had a law degree, was a member of the National Rifle Association, and dealt with attorneys on a daily basis as a part of my job. Despite all of that I was selected! An attorney who had been on the same panel later told me that he couldn't believe I'd been selected as I'd "given all the right answers!" Who knows?

Hope you don't have this happen to you.

When I lived in Poweshiek County several years ago, I was called for jury duty and drove day after day to Monte (not all that close to where I lived) only to sit and be dismissed because the thing was continued or plea bargained at the last minute and even the lawyer for one side was sick.

Never did sit on a jury as it left a sour taste in my mouth (and with the other potential jurors.) We were there as agreed and were glad to do our civic duty .... just should not have jurors show until they are ready to proceed ...made us feel like our time wasn't valuable .... but the lawyers, judges and defendants was.

Talk about boring ...... just sitting in that cold musty room and all of us twiddling our thumbs. Then the clerk would come in and dismiss us about 10:30 or so.

Yes we got our stipend (I think it was $20.00 a day) but it just didn't seem right to drag us over there day after day for a 'maybe' ..... I could see it happening once in a while .... but this was like 12 days out of an entire month we accomplished ABSOLUTELY nothing and 20 bucks didn't hardly pay the gas let alone my lost wages.

Better hope you never need a "smart" jury!!! No really, I agree with most of this thread & what Azteca says happened to me one time, also. I do feel it's quite a honor to serve on a jury as in a lot of other countries they don't have that privelage!. BUT.......to have to miss the Bowl???? Tell the accused that you'll be a week late & not to go anywhere!!!! HAHAHA!

Anyhow the only time i had to serve I went and waited on monday all morning just to find out they didn't need me and I was done. I'd been pissed if I cancelled my trip for that.
