I see nothing is really different from the east to midwest. I agree with dirtrack28&29 he didn't blame anyone. I see I'm going to have alot of work. Can anybody tell me what the best intake and carb to use. Or is the wrong place to ask?

At Brill you have to run a Factory Cast Iron Intake, you can run any carb except a Predator, we run a Holley 750 and we like it, you can't run any aluminum intakes at all.

go to www.brillmotorspeedway.com and read the rules for the Factory's and if you have any questions on any thing call Mark he will clarify what you can and can't do...

The comment you made on track not enforcing there rules is what I was responding to. Mark does use a puffer to check c.i. and will check bore and stroke if there is any Question in the puffer.

I am not affiliated with the 1J car in any way other than a respect for Johnny as a racer.

I agree with you 100% about it getting out of hand in many classes

The class I race and love is suffering from the same problems as the Factorys, Pro stocks, and many more. Mini stocks were dropped by 2 Tracks this year leaving only 5 tracks in the state running them.

I think if everyone will take a few min. and re-visit the last ten years. You would have to say that the claim rule really didn't help. Back when the claim rule was in effect I can only remember it being used 2 or 3 times in 3 or 4 years. In fact the few people that claimed an engine some how seemed to suffer the worst in the public eye.  For a claim rule to work it needs to be used on a weekly basis. Fact is there needs to be a better and more specific rule book and it needs to be enforced and teched weekly.

Although a great motor is a big help. Enough can't be said about set up. If you can't put it on the ground and make it turn left at the end of the straight then you have no chance of going to the front. I have said it many times and I will say it again. I would take a car with a great setup and a average engine to race over a car with a great motor and an average set up.

but it did keep most from droppin 10-15K in their motors. Of course it stirred up a lot of bad blood when certain people that had lots of $$ in their motors got claimed. As long as guys are droppin that much money in a factory stock..............the class will remain to be a joke. It seriously makes it a 4 or 5 horse race. At most tracks......and ESPECIALLY at SFS Factory Stocks were meant to be a beginner class. Jorski is exactly right.........b/c of a few frontrunners f.s. drivers would be better off goin and gettin a modified. And if you get a mod you can run damn near everywhere b/c its roughly the same rules wherever you go. And you're eligible to run all sorts of BIG money races in multiple states. I don't see big factory stock races like that. Money means a lot in mods.......but set-ups are key. Not to say that set-up doesn't matter in OKC Factories, but it's not quite the same when you see the guys with big $$$ passin on the outside while completely out of shape...............sorry, I may just be a fan, but even I am not dumb enough to believe that it is all "setup". Everybody knows its all "money". These guys that have turned that class into what it is either need to get a pro stock..........or get the pro stock guys to meet on common ground..........COMBINE THE CLASSES........and run STREET STOCKS.

Jolly good morning to you all. It seems that you guys and gals are heading in the same direction, just different paths. Is there a club or orginization that you guys and gals belong to. Maybe you can form a group and voice your concerns to the track owner. In a polite way ok course. You know let the track owner know how you feel and give the owner an example of what factory stock is suppose to be. May be even elect a rep to tech the top five car with the track offical. Find someone who has the rule from say 1989 or so. Compare and decide what needs to be corrected. Money spent or not, it seems to me this class is gotten out of hand. After all it's your racing class. Once you and the owner has come to agreement leave the rules alone. Freeze the dam things (Opps soory about that, I guess I need to get off my genny). And then go racing.

P.S. look at how many hit the blog has received. I think it time for a chance in the rules.

Great opinion Thomas, see I am not the only one who talks about setup, and there are alot of poeple who feel the same as Thomas & I do about setups, if you cant get the car to stick and the power to the ground your up the creek so to speak, by the way Thomas great race Saturday with you & Johnny in the Mod "A" that was some great action and racing, great job. Setups do make a car better. And we do get teched it will be this week I am sure and he does tech alot of cars not just the winner.

I agree completely with Danny and Tillison. I have pretty good parts and engine in mine and Sat. night I had no foward bite and no side bite. Plus it helps if you dont run out of tear-offs too by lap 17! LOL! Setup is so vital. Look at NASCAR. All those cars are pretty equal and the drivers too. Sure some are a little better than others, but how many times have you heard they couldnt loosen the car up enough or tighten it up enough? Its the same with us. Our cars get loose and tighten up the same way and I guarantee you the when the setup is off, the cars are horrible. Of course a good driver can get the most out of his car, but it will only go so far. If you have a good setup, they look like rockets. Good example, Tony Anderson at Winter Nationals at the city last fall almost lapped the entire field within 20 laps. Why? because he had one hell of setup and the rest of us got it wrong.

You are right on all that you stated Deke, cars loose, cars tight, no forward bite, no side bite, all of these that makes a car work is in the setup, good setup good car, bad setup bad car, my car was one of those last year at the winter nationals, loose and not much side bit or forward bite, Tony was fast and had the car dialed in and it showed. Deke good run for you with no tearoffs left, that sucks when you pull them all off, and mud keeps building up on the shield, makes ya run just a little more on the edge of your seat when ya can't see thru the mud.

I see your point deke. it's a good one. In modifieds set-up is crucial just as much or maybe even more than open wheel cars.

But if the factory stock drivers at OKC wanted to go this fast and spend this kind of money............they should have stepped up to pro stocks.............................

I understand that, but some guys just want to drive factories. I have no desire to. I'd like to hot lap a sprint car, just once, but have no desire to race them either. Those guys have a few screws loose to drive them things. LOL! Its just like the fans. Ya'll have your favorite class. Why can't a driver. I just still have the opinion that where ever the rules got changed from the past, turn them back to the way they were or we might just have C.O.T.s too! Actually, I guess they would have to be D.T.C.O.T's(Dirt Track Car of Tomorrow)!

Car handles great wherever I take it .which really means a lot so I may not be the victor , but the crowd knew I was there and wandered where I came from !

Its all about momemtum baby!!!!

winners dont cry when they lose , they go back to the
drawing board and come back for round 2 !

I agree with you mostly, and respect your opinion. However I personally think that many of these factory stock drivers spend this $$ to dominate that class. They don't want to move up to Pro Stocks..........b/c its more competitive and they won't dominate it. For as much as these fellas love racing factory stocks...........its ironic that they are ruining that class.

But then again.......its their's to do what they want with. I'm just thankful its the sprints and mods everyoe goes to see...........b/c if it wasn't............the future of sfs would look a bit bleak.

you can dominate one class, move up and there is no victory at the ende of the race . SO WHY RUN SOME CLASS YOU CAN'T OUT RUN EVERYONE ON THE TRACK?

But why spend $10,000 plus to win s $20 trophy and $200 minus the expenses? I understand the "I want to win" symdrome, I understand the "because the other guy is doing it and getting away with it" I wish I had half the ablitity you quys have. But the whole point in all this thread to fine away to get this factory class back to "Factory stock" racing. Back to the guys who want to race but can't afford the pro stock money. I've done allot of research. I read alot of rules from tracks all over these United States. Some tracks allow 9" rears, But most restrict the carburator type and vaccum max at 1000 rpm. These tracks are trying to keep the cost of racing down and the car count up. They don't keep trying to fix something that wasn't broken. They don't keep changing the rules. Most of these track want to keep the racing to driver's abitilty. That include knowledge of set-up and such. In that manner the tracks have better racing. You guys I'm not pointing any finger, or elbow or anything else, at anyone . I just would like to see better racing and more cars count.

P.S. I would be racing this year but cheering for you guys is a close as I can get this year. Maybe next year.

That's my Opinion and I'm stick'en to it.

talking of carbs & vaccumn rule, the limited mods at Brillmotorspeedway.com is the closest thing to what the factory stocks rules should be. 2bbl 4412 holly carb only, no modifications to the carb and have to pull vaccumn . CHECK IT OUT.

Well so all know after our 3rd win in a row Sat night, we was torn down and checked had to pull a head off and all factory stock drivers were called over to look and see that we are legal as Mark showed them everything, caliper the valves, check to make sure we had flat tops, no port work on the stock heads, and make sure we had no roller cam. We would not tear down and let all drivers see what we have if we was illegal, so now they know what we have and just how fast the car is. Good luck to all next week.
