I love double file restarts but do think that the leader should ALWAYS have a row to himself.

One thing I have heard about on dirt but never witnessed is where the leader gets his own row, then every car behind him has to choose inside or outside at a certain spot on the track. If you are running 10th and all 9 drivers in front of you choose inside, you are free to choose the outside and line up in the row right behind the leader. I would like to see it sometime, but it is probably best left to the late models.

I believe double-file restarts are great!

Hell even Steve Kinser finally agreed that they have made racing better.

Tyler Walkers stunt last year cost Jason Myers the Nationals.

If that would have been a double-file restart the result may have been the same, but at least the race would have been a little more exciting.

I've seen it at a couple local tracks and it causes a lot of sheet metal damage and lengthens the show too much with all the cautions and wrecks. One track has a rule that after 4 double-file restarts in same heat, or feature, they go to single file. BUT, it is exciting for sure.

Seems like the double file restarts made for a ton of unnecessary cautions and false starts this weekend.

We need advise from you

Work real hard to get a good lead and them let them start beside you sounds fair to me

The biggest race anywhere and you think we should change it. LOL

Oh, I forgot this wasn't a message board and I shouldn't voice my opinion. My bad I'll just agree with everyones views from now on.

I can't imagine them doing double file restarts for the heats. Some heats may go green to checker and some may have several cautions. Being in a heat that has several cautions would be a huge advantage to those staring in the back.

who cares about this advantage or that advantage. it's about the fans. ALL sports are about the fans. i would like to see double file restarts (no lap cars please) all the way through the nationals. but that is just my opinion. what would you like to see, fair or unfair to the drivers? what makes it more entertaining for you:? after all, that is the only reason they (the drivers) are able to do this.

About as fair as taking the lapped cars out after the leader got by them!

I agree, really poorly applied this weekend. Took alot of excitement away. But the concept, if executed well can really lead to some exciting racing.

Just about all of the local tracks in my area have gone to the double file restarts, and the WoO races I have seen this year have been good with it also. Wouldn't be a bad change in my book!

Double file restart made this year the best Kings Royal I have ever been too. I hope now knoxville relizes that it is the only way help make this frieght train sport more exciting.

I guess I dont see how it was so great. Kinser jumping the double file restart and Kerry Madsen (a lower budget team) getting screwed out of the win at one of the biggest races? Just didn't seem that great to me.

If it would have been a single file restart and Kinser jumped it, Madsen may have still stood a chance at getting the deserved win.

I guess the drivers should pay the fans with the purse money, too................do we have to make the fans the show, too? Should we have the fans work on the cars, too? You forget one key part in the equation, you have to have cars for a show. What would the fans watch if there were no cars? It's quite simple, the fans get to pay their way in and watch the cars. If they like what they see, they'll be back for more.

Once again, everyone needs to be reminded, this is about the fans and the fans only! I could care less how much of a lead someone gets. if they are that fast, they can retake the lead going into corner 1. Bottom line, if sprint car racing wants to expand its fan base, changes like this are going to need to be made. This isnt about fairness to the driver leading the race. its about putting butts in the seats. I know a quite a few people that stopped going to the nationals because it was getting stale. (not my opinion, but theirs) They are going to have to pull out all of the stops to get people back in the seats.

How about giving the leader the front row by himself. Ive seen it before (late models) and it worked well.

I'm not going this year because I DON'T LIKE the changes they've been making.

1) Last years 8 car invert in the heat races just pissed me off.

2) Having a feature of such a length that it is not possible to finish without a fuel stop goes against the definition of SPRINT car racing. 30 lap A main on Sat night was perfect then they went and screwed it up.

3) If I ever do go again and there is a double file restart with 5 laps to go in the A on Sat and it ends up taking out half the field I will never go again.

I hate double file restarts in all classes, just adds more cautions and more junked equipment in a sport that is already suffering from lower car counts because it cost too dang much to be competitive. Using a cone on the restarts was the best thing that the WoO ever did for the sport.

I sure hope not....

Why ruin when the real racing begins (Lapped Traffic).

A double file restart with 8 to go @ Kville, OPEN TRACK for the guy that gets out front until the checkered flag flies.

Single File Restart with 8 to go @ Kville, Lapped traffic with 3 laps left, which IMO makes for better racing....

I may not agree with the 50 lap feature, but it's the 50th anniversary, so I can live with it, especially since 33 gallon tanks are mandatory for 2011 in WoO competition (you know everyone else will follow suit just like they did Goodyear), which means 30 laps without a Fuel Stop shouldn't be an issue for the 51st Nat's (it would be this year with the small tanks).

Are the motors of 2009/2010 burning that much more fuel than they did just 2 or 3 yrs ago that 30 laps is no longer possible?

Seems like there wasn't many years with a fuel stop when the feature was 30 laps.

last year over 1/2 the field would have run out on lap 27...(without cautions)

Still would have runout as they don't count caution laps

they still use fuel under caution

So how did they finish the qualifying night features without a fuel stop?

Aren't those 25 laps? While I don't remember for sure, I think there were at least a couple yellows each night.

Sounds like its time to put 4 narrow bricks on the cars so that they don't need 900 hp to be competitive.

The best way to get guys to put big enough tanks on and to fill them up is simple.

If you run out of fuel you go to the pits and do not return. End of story.

Better yet would be that if you DNF you are relegated to last place $.

The 1st year the race may be won by the last car that is on the track but you could be sure that it wouldn't happen again.
