Try this again.

There was approx five or six of us there today. Myself, Shane Sellers and Jimmy Taylors mom spoke.

Found out that the city will have a 64 million bond offering sometime early next year. One of the projects that the money would be used for is to referbish the Old bridge on 66 near Overholser. The council said that this bridge is one of the few on 66 that is like that. The city palns on refrebish the bridge to make it useful for car traffic once again.

Shane spoke on how the track could generate more money than what it is already making at the present time. There could be more things done with it than what it is being now. Jimmy's mom spoke how she has been to the track 51 or the 55 years and have only missed 14 races in that time and that he family has grown up out there. Me,Mr big mouth lol, talked about how this is more of a national issue than jsut a local. How the Grandstands is one of the few covered grandstand left in America.

I also talked about how mnay people were on the facebook page and this place was a family tradtion to many. I also asked the Mayor about his Hotel/Motel tax issue from a few years back. Seems the story goes that when the election was held about this the ORA was agaisnt it but Correntt got wind of it and came to them and said if you approve it then the track would be here for a very long time. When I came with him about that the city managers face was pricelss it was like what the he++ did you say. I did not see it but those that were with me said that Corrnett bowed his chest. He said I do not remember what I said but I know I did not say that. then he went on his speal of having a multi use track and this and that.

Well nothing was on the docket to discuss the track. So more in less in was a we want to be heard type thing. We were only allowed three mins to speak so the sign up sheet to speak said.

We were proceded by a ladt that could not find a job b/c she had a DUI and wanted to give her resume to her council person b/c he said you could always find a job. What really sucks is the council person walked right out the door without taking the resume.

Sounds like Micky was hoping no one remembered that one! Oh, yeah, many heard the comment.

Bowed chest, the look from the manager, Micky is a liar, it has been proven time and time again,and they are finding out just how uncooth he is.

Like I stated, they made it personal so shall the race fans.

The only thing I think should be added on that is - out of all this money - it would be less 0.5% to fix the track. Hell if taxpayers were willing to give away 777,000,000 of their money - why not make it an even 780,000,000???? lol right?

multi-use track? who is buttering that mans bread? I think they got pavement stars in their eyes - the only sort of multi-use facility that could even be remotely considerable would be a GREAT dirt track - and maybe a drag facility next to it. Those drag tracks can bring in some dough - a nice lil dime. But multi-use? hope they aren't stupid enough to build and oval made of pavement.

well - nonetheless. great stuff guys. is there another meeting sometime soon? we should all go "en masse" - and if we know of the meeting enough time out - we could all take the day off - maybe the morning off - and pester the livin hell out of these people. With the coverage we are getting in the media - I think we need to capitalize on it. really get this thing going. so whats some stuff we could all do? especially collectively? we all got ideas - but lets share some good ones.

Hold on there Buckwheat, let me add a few thoughts--

So, we know the maps3 sham passed, okay, now ther's a few other things coming too.

The county jail is in need of $350million of repairs, and unless they throw in another sales tax, the federal government will take it over and force property owners to pay an extra $200 a year, over the next three years.

with the maps3 thing coming to fruition, the property values will go up, thus those property taxes WILL STAY UP, or go higher.

Oklahoma city, Oklahoma county, still it is all in the same pot of stew.

That brings the total bill to $1.12 billion dollars, which they HOPE out of towners will foot much of it when they come in.

Much like the land grab, there will be a money grab too. Leaving the race track folks at the end of the line until all the other interests get theirs first.

NOW THEN,

We are not asphalt people, we do not have asphalt 'switchover' equipment, nor do we wish to run asphalt. The very idea of an asphalt track working in OkC, with this groups background, and the competing dirt tracks closeby that have paid their dues, ---well it means he(Micky) is out of touch.

Pie in the sky ideas like the 'multi-purpose' facility, most times they drift away without the mainstream even noticing. The odds of finding those that work and profit, turnkey and built in the last 20 years, are about as good as finding a covered grandstand track with 55+ years of history.

Throw in the 'shady truth telling' mayor, his approach, and you can read the writing on the wall---

This will be their quote years from now--"We just couldn't get anybody to work with us, but we're spending THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS TO GET 'ER DONE".

Much like OJ Simpson looked for his wifes killers on every golf course in America, so too shall they search dilligently for an investor that will trust them.

I have not seen this talked about yet but they want Lanny to spend $400,000 to fix the power lines in order to keep the track open. So if Lanny does not pay that the track will be closed and it will be tore-down which leads me to ask who is going to pay to fix the power lines when they elect to demolish the track or are the lines just going to magically float in the air and there not be a problem.

My guess would be the Tax Payers of OKC and the funds the Fair Board receives from MAPS 3.

does anyone have the minutes from that meeting or even better was it recorded i heard demolishon of the speedway is 2.9 million could you imagine what that money could do in fixing it up

I recall a time back in 2005 that the mayor had his house painted and had to be threatened with a lawsuit just so he would pay the bill. He is a real piece of sh_t. I hope everyone bands together and when it comes election time take care of business.
