Charlie was never to busy to speak and smile when he walked by you.

His passing will leave a big void at the Friday night races.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Gastineau Family.

Woody, Nikki and Steve Smith

Thank you guys for all the kind words about Charlie, he felt the same you all. Charlie and I raced together for 35 years and I can not tell you how tough it is going to be without him there. Thank you all! Steve Gastineau

Is there a way we can convince Lanny to let the supers or anyone who wants to do a 3 or 4 wide in memory of Mr Gastineau?

There will be a viewing at the funeral home located at 305 S. Sooner Rd. in Del City on Tuesday evening. The family will be there from 6:00 - 8:00 P.M. The race car will be out in front of the funeral home. In lieu of flowers a donation can be made to Gastineau Racing through the Ford Funeral Home. That would have been Charlie's preference.

Funny story about Charlie,

I was at Racers Corner (D.E. Suggs) shop, lettering the #2 car driven by Steve Gasitneau. It was late in the evening to early morning hours on a cold Winter day. The Snow was piled up outside and D.E. had that damn thermostat on the heater set on 118 degrees. My paint was drying on the end of my brush before it ever hit the car.

I took it upon myself to put Gold Leaf numbers on Steve's car, and if you have never seen Gold Leaf applied it can be quite shocking during the application process. Anyway at about 12:30 or 1:00 am Steve and Charlie came walking through the door at Racers Corner and the first thing out of Steve's mouth was, "what do we got going on here", and Charlie's jaw just dropped. Then Charlie asked D.E. how are we gunna fix this...

D.E. in his usual calm manner slowly stood up from his chair that was parked in front of the 118 degree heater and said, Allen pick up your stuff and I will hold them off (Charlie and Steve) until you get out of here.

At first Charlie thought D.E. was serious and I acted along with D.E. and I asked Charlie if he would not mind braving the weather to go out and start my truck so it could warm up, while I acted like I was picking my lettering stuff up. Charlie said "hey, if that's what needs to be done let's do it "

God Speed Charlie

3 or 4 wide is a great idea if the family would like to do it.
