Hi Rick, Could you do some of us a favor please? Post us a picture of yourself so we can be sure not to get a seat close to you.... Nothing worse than sitting by people who complain about this and that, and that and this all night.

My apoligies Kenny. You are right. We should never offer constructive criticism. We should just take whatever we are given and shutup. All of us diehards (I have been a regular fan for 45 years) should never suggest how to possibly attract new fans. Instead of hoping to make things better we should, like many on this board do, just tell those who are a little dissatisfied that "if you don't like it stay home". That's what all successful businesses do.
Kenny, I'm worried that for the lack of new fans the best racing in the world is slowly dying, especially here in SoCal. The reasons are many, downtime being one of them. I hope to see the cars that I love racing for many more years at the PAS. It may not be financially feasible without some changes. It would be a shame a few years hence, after losing what we have, to say "If only...".

And what constructive criticism would that be? All I see is a sarcastic remark about someone else's positive view of the realities of our sport. Trust me, you have a few more years supporting our sport to catch up with me...Myself, I'm heading down the mountain today to support a group and a track over here in AZ that needs it.
Picture please..LOL Here's mine with some real "diehard" fans.

Every-time this money debate comes up one thing that seems to never get enough attention is what the car owners go thru. The cost of this sport is incredible. Engines, tires, fuel, rebuilds, wrecking, travel...the list is endless and endlessly wallet draining. There has to be some $ off-set which to some degree is the purse. If you win, you will pay for your basics, the drivers cut and the amortization toward the next engine rebuild. Thats about it. The purse comes (besides the back-gate) from the fans. So, this becomes a "chicken-n-egg" thing. Cheap tickets=poor purse. Poor purse=no cars. No cars=no fans (Rob would be the exception). It's a great sport but it dosen't run on air.

Uh, downtime.
My hair isn't as .gray as that in the pic but you all have more on top than I do.
Where in the pic are the young Sprint Car fans of today and tomorrow? They aren't there but I can't speculate as to why because I don't want to be accused of complaining.

If your suggesting the purse is based on the front gate your wrong. The purse was negotiated by the sanctioning body and the track will pay that contracted price.....most of us are wanting the track to profit so they can continue to put on great races...IF ,I said IF,there was a way to get and additional 400-500 even 1000 people in the grandstands isn't it worth talking about?

I'm glad you educated me cus now I know the 275,000 estimated attendance (and the $ they spent) at last years Indy 500 did NOT contribute to the $3,000,000 the winner received. I've been wondering about that.

I don't recall Sky mentioning any particular track when he was talking about some positive things that you could do while they are having what's being called "down time"... He could have been referring to Manzy, Vegas, most any track that runs sprints on a regular basis because the "problem", if that's what you want to call it, is pretty much the same from track to track. The fact that I haven't been to Perri's does not discount my thoughts or opinion on the matter in any way, and it certainly has no bearing on my response to a negative, and sarcastic response to a post that had some ideas about how to utilise the "downtime" in a positive way.
I also spent many more years going to Ascot and other tracks while living in Cali, than Perris has been open... what's your point?

For The people that stayed home because they couldn`t afford it or wouldn`t pay it missed a great Midget race. I would have paid $30.00 dollars for that race alone. What a Drive by Darren Hagen

TOPIC;Ticket Price at the PAS.......as far as Rick Eatons post..he hit dead on ,the problem with getting new fans.......last night at Perris ..delay ,delay ..delay...the program had some unavoidable events [crashes]but 53 years in the race biz and USAC couldn't get the cars ready to go ....10 oclock curfew and they ran it past midnight...OK for hard core fan ..but new fans -shivering in the cold they won't come back.....the racers put on a great show...it's a shame the promoter and sanctioning body can't pull it together to make it more marketable

One more thing that really chaps my hide! People complaining about down time!...
...This down time as you guys call it is your moment to shine ...
Yeah, that's how we'll attract new fans. Like the government does, we'll take something unpleasant and give it a new name. "Downtime" now will become "Shinetime". I expect that this will catch on everywhere. Movie theaters will start having long intermissions so that people can mingle. Business will soar. TV shows will pause and encourage us to go next door and say hi to the neighbors. I might even apply this to my day-to-day life. Whenever I'm waiting in line at the DMV or stuck in traffic I'll use it as an opportunity to be an "ambasador".
Right, ticket price's, a brilliant retort LOL....Rick's post (above) was not about ticket prices even though that was the topic..Why did I have to tell you that anyway, didn't you read it?? OK, here it is again, READ IT and you tell me one positive aspect of this reply to SkyHaborCowboys post that had nothing but positive ideas and thoughts.
I don't recall Sky saying "du, that cool, no problem" about down time. All he had was some thoughts about how you could use that time constructively and he was made fun of in return for his efforts. I understood what Sky was saying perfectly, because it's such a good philosophy and I for one endorse it 100%, and use it myself.
I read your post this morning on HOSEHEADS main forum about how you were glad you didn't go to the show last night, and working on your house was the best option.. I suspect the person you would have sat next to would feel the same way if he'd known it was you he would have been sitting by..LOL... Post's like that one sure helps our boy's, the Pass and our sport in general... NOT!... In fact you could have made the difference if a fan or two showed up in the future...good job 88...Is that your way to attract people to Perris for a show in the future, or were you just warning them for their own good..LOL
I'm not a outsider here just because I haven't been to Perri's, and I thank my friends on this forum who know my past and understand that I've been a CRA fan and supporter in one way or another since it's conception.

Ya think..LOL you and I disagreed for a month on a "off topic" LOL
I was looking at ABCMOTORSPORT.COM forum a little while ago and Robbie Allen posted this.. (below)...This man and that group of guys are what grass roots racing is all about...Running with the big boy's last week and being more than just competitive, and then hooking up with a organisation and track that needs the support the next. A class act fellows, a class act.
Of course I ran into some friends that just had to get another little fix before the ASCS non wing opener at Manzy next week. I won't be down intil they have a "name" event and are on the 1/2..
LAST NIGHT WAS FUN. THE CAR COUNT WAS A LITTLE LOWER THAN WE EXPECTED, BUT IT WAS FUN TO RUN WITH ASCA. WE HAD, I THINK, 13 CARS. PITTING OUT OF THE TRAILER WAS HUGE! WHAT A DIFFERENCE IT MAKES. WE HAD EVERYTHING WE NEEDED RIGHT THERE, AND WE COULD LOAD UP AS SOON AS IT WAS ALL DONE. NO TRAFFIC JAMBS.THE RACES WERE OVER RIGHT AROUND 10:00 WITH ALL 4 DIVISIONS. AND THAT WAS WITH THE MODIFIEDS DOING A GREEN YELLOW GREEN YELLOW GREEN YELLOWWWWW*****. THE TRACK STAYED GOOD ALL NIGHT. CANYON HAS IMPROVED A LOT SINCE THE LAST TIME WE WERE THERE. ALTHOUGH I NOTICED THAT THE SCORE BOARD DOESN'T WORK ANYMORE. YOU GUYS, DON'T FOLLOW THE WAY OF MANZY IN THIS REGARD. NOT HAVING A SCOREBOARD IS THE PITS. THE BEST PART IS THAT WE WERE HOME JUST AFTER MIDNIGHT. JOSH PELKEY LED THE MAIN FROM START TO FINISH. WE HAD TO SETTLE FOR SECOND. HOPEFULLY THE RESULTS WILL BE POSTED PRETTY QUICK.
It was just posted and that kid took a nasty ride...all by himself.
ASCA wants to THANK Steve from RSS Industrious for our Trophies for the DASH & MAIN EVENT.

Thank You to all of the people that came out and supported ASCA sat at Canyon Speedway. We had a good time and the races were over by 10:00 pm , we had a B-Que after the races and we were still home in Prescott Valley by 12:30am. Hope that John Brinkley is doing OK after his crash in the main.He rolled about 8or9 times. He was up walking around said that his knee was sore.
Thank You ASCA

Dude are you series....... USAC wasn't the problem. You wanna know the problem (it is the best problem to have in the world) THEY HAD A GREAT CAR COUNT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This made it to where many teams had to park outside. With that great problem (TOO MANY CARS) they had to break in between every race to get cars in and out (AGAIN A GREAT PROBLEM TO HAVE)
Ray is one of the best at preparing a race track but he was in a no win situation. The wind, over a hundred cars, and starting at 3pm he had to rework the track a few times.
Yes the race went long, as we are spoiled with our regular shows, but man I think it was well worth it!!!!!!!!
I just wish we had a couple of more midget shows at this track as I think it was a great midget race, and that it is a great midget track.
Thanks for listening

Mr. Eaton made his point, your not going to get new fans to watch water trucks ,graders and dead track...they come to see racing..tighten the program up..at least thats what I got...I NEVER said your an outsider..however you told Mr. Eaton to post a pic so you wouldn't have to sit near him and listen to him complain, again no chance of that ....or was that the infamous sarcasim that you find so rude in Ricks statement......Look Arizona Sand Carp ,I like sky and I like rick they have differing pinions on how to address a problem, but I respect the fact they care.I personally agreed with rick's view, skyharbor didn't take it as an insult to himself I'm sure..if everyone agreed on every subject-what fun would it be...wonder Kenny if I insulted you but put LOL would it make you feel any better...as far as last nights race goes..I wonder if the track will have a sit down mon. morning to discuss what could have went better sat. and how to make improvements to make things more spectator friendly or will they just move on doing the same as before..nuff said
