Just wondering what it would cost for a good, used 305 motor, complete and ready to drop in the car. Or possibly even to rent one for 3 nights. Thanks!!

Is that the steel head rules package that Knoxville runs?? If it is, I guess I better find some more places to spend money
I think you might be able to do better than that if you found a few used parts. Pan, mag, injection, timing cover, valve cover, etc...
But I would say to be realistic its probably going to take 8500 to 9000 if you wanted upper end (but not top end) stuff.

Thats what I was guessing. Like I said, just a good used motor. Nothing top of the line, yet nothing terrible either. I thought 12-15K sounded a little high. 8-9K was my guess. Thanks for the input guys.

I talked to a driver a while back that finished 2nd. He told me he had a $ 5,000 motor he built himself. He said the guy that beat him had a brand new $16,000 motor. sounds like they are getting pretty pricey.

JR motorsports in Iowa will sell you a shortblock for aprox. $2600.,balanced-forged rods and pistons, your choice of cam lift.I'm sure they could put it out the door heads and all ready to go pretty reasonable. Good people to deal with.Ask for Axel.
