16 mini stocks - lonnie nunley won.

12 factory stocks - #24 won - with a yellow #14 2nd.

17 or 18 modifieds. - great a feature under circumstances. Jorski started pole but shredded a right front tire. top 5 went Gary Little, Daniel Cox, Hilliard, Charlie White (sfs winner), and Thomas Nunley.

ASCS - 23 sprints. Garry Lee Maier flipped in the heats - welded things back together to run the A Main. 3 heats - no B Main. track was horrible heavy in the heats - hard as hell to pass - although ironically more passing in lawton heats than sfs heats. Jason Johnson drew the pole (exilirating). was outgunned at the start by fellow front row starter Nick Smith. Smith led with JJ in tow when Zach Chappell went to work and blew by em both. cushion was still really low but track was drying out some below it. Crawley runnin in top 10 lost it in 4 and hit the wall really hard - i mean hard - and flipped out into the mid of the turn 4 exit - wayne johnson had nowhere to go and hit him - tore front wing off. he came back out but lost power steering to bring out final caution of the night. Jason Johnson passed Chappell for the lead with 4 or 5 to go for the win - and Gary Wright after falling to 8th made some moves and passed son in law Nick Smith at the line for 3rd.

Top 11 were (not official - kinda unsure about the last 3)

1. Jason Johnson
2. Zach Chappell
3. Gary Wright
4. Nick Smith
5. Kevin Ramey
6. Andy Shouse
7. Travis Rilat
8. Sean McClelland
9. Michael Brown
10. Brad Bowden
11. Danny Jennings

thats how they came across the line at the end - the top 8 i am pretty sure of - 9 or 10th coulda been lapped I aint sure. I'm sure www.ascsracing.com will have full results and story in just a bit.

but yeah that was lawton. it was ok. the track wasnt too good - really heavy. both the mods and sprints were all over the place - i could never tell if it was ruts or rough cushion or what ----- but they were bouncing all over the place losing it in the apex of both 1 n 2 ------ and 3 n 4. the sprint heats was close call after close call - i swear every car bout dumped it in turn 1.

wasnt even planning on goin. kind of a last minute deal and I though - hell - might as well go .... yeah one of them things.

maybe?

haha no rain - no factory's. should be a heck of a show.

yeah it was great seeing ya'll down at your hometown/hometrack. Lil Miss Dirt Princess was in her element too. during hot laps and heats I was lookin around for 50/50 ticket lady - and then right there with the brightly colored "50/50" shirt on ------- hey whats up! i forgot to buy a 50/50 ticket tho - I'm a jackass wink in hindsight i am really happy the wind was out of the southeast and didnt have to eat dirt during the sprint feature. i still cant beleive a track would ever be built facing west in oklahoma tho lol.

should be a fun week fantasy wise - - - as I'm staring down the curse of the Open League winner now. o yay. now i will attempt to beat it back with a fury hehe. will try to post the official word on the tournament late tonight --------- i will attempt to play indoor soccer for the 1st time in over a year today - against the #1 hispanic team in the league no less - - - prob a bad time to make a return to the pitch. o well. i'm gettin a belly and need to sweat some more of it off - workin in air conditioning just aint doing it - although I sure am grateful for it Smile

I wonder how many cars Charly White hit in the parking lot cause he hit every thing else. Does he drive that way where he comes from? Just asking never heard of him before but he sure hit every thing he was around.

I thought I saw the flagman give the 1W car the "2 caution black flag" in the "A" but the flagman appeared to change his mind. I thought the Sprint show was "good" but not "great". We were waiting in the parking lot before the races for car and driver to get there, and I saw quite a few people turn and leave the ticket booth, get back in their cars, and drive out when they found out it was going to cost $20.

Lanny was on a scream/cuss session about getting the track packed. I don't understand why Lanny doesn't prepare the track himself like most other tracks that I have been to. It would seem to solve a whole array of problems between Lanny and the Racers. That way, Lanny could have the track "exactly the way he wants it, exactly when he wants it ready" and Racers could save racing fuel and carrying away so much clay. Even if it raised the cost of pit passes $1 (for Lanny to cover the fuel), I think everyone would pay it, to avoid being treated like stepchildren. wink

I even saw him tell Steve Ryans to load up and leave and he would refund his money because Steve couldn't get his car out to pack soon enough to suit Lanny. : (

I really am not trying to hijack this thread, just wanted to ramble on a little! LOL

He didn't tell Stevie to leave. That was his choice. He was the only one with enough sense to tell Lanny to give all there pit passes back and he would leave. I'm glad for Stevie, if everyone else had guts to do the same thing maybe Lanny would change his attitude. Probably not.

Lanny actually came over to my car and asked "what was the hold up". He started cussing and he stated that "you guys, all of you drivers do not respect me or this track and I (Lanny) work my ass off all week to get this track ready and none of you respect me or the track". That came straight from the horses mouth. Should I put it as it truly is...straight from the mouth of the horses ass. I told him that he did not respect any of the drivers and that I had gone to get that radio and that was the hold up. He then changed his tune and said ok get in your car. I think he might have still tried to screw me over because I started 9th in the heat finished 4th and he still had me start dead last in the feature. I did confront him after the races and told him exactly how I felt about him and his antics, kindly of course. I will never be back to Lawton or any other track that the hobbit promotes or has anything to do with. I have also noticed that most of his cronies that work there act just like him at times. That was my second time at Lawton this year and I can understand why the car count has been down. I hope someone builds another track or the drivers would just boycott the track and cause it to hit Lanny in the wallet where it would hurt him the most. I have never in my life known a business man to treat his paying customers that way, but he has gotten away with it for so long so why quit now I guess. The drivers are the ones that put the money in his pockets and are why the fans come to the track. For the most part they bring a pretty good crowd and that typically includes a lot of family too. So that could hurt him at the gate and the concessions as well. Anyway, if the drivers, their families, and friends do not do something then he will continue to act the way he does by disrespecting us and he will continue to believe he is GOD and that we owe him something. I understand there is an association at Lawton. Does it help the drivers against this type of treatment? If there is a strong standing association then right there is the beginning of standing up and doing something to make a positive difference.

thats just it tho dude - you cant really hit him in the wallet. all 3 of his weekly tracks could try that -------- he would just save himself the hassle and make a cool mil with the chili bowl. or whatever it is he makes up there, but as i have said a few dozen times - - - that moneymaker affords him the priveledge to treat people the way he does.

Then the word has to get out about him on an elevated level and more than just a few people that have had run ins with him from time to time will have to step up to the plate. I don't know if anyone remembers but several years back he was inducted into the sprint car hall of fame or was given an award something to the fact. It came out in the Lawton paper and Lanny "hobbit" Edwards stated "that if it does not make him money then he is not much interested in it". That is the type of cat that the drivers are dealing with. So, why hasn't a boycott of Lawton been done? I hear people claim that it would not do any good but what the heck boycott it for real and for an extensive time. It would not kill everyone if they did not race for some time or heck find another track. Maybe it will trickle to his other tracks and then the word will be out and hopefully snowball. Also, all that go to the chili bowl that are from the areas that know about the hobbit should also boycott the chili bowl as well. A process like this takes time but would people that have had enough stick to their guns for the long haul or would they be passive as most people these days have become and rationalize one thing and then another and just filter back to his tracks? He dang sure is not the supreme being he thinks he is but when he is allowed to act the way he does and get away with it then the more he acts like that. He must have little mans syndrome haha. Anyway, I will never go to anything that he promotes or is a part of again. That includes racing or as a spectator. I also know that no one from my family for friends will either. That roughly includes about 15 to 20 people so that is a start. I do not see gas as being an issue for not going to other tracks because if people are gonna race then people are just gonna race and will pay a little more to go other tracks besides his. It all boils down to if drivers, family, and friends simply will collectively. There is strength in numbers and the people do make a difference.

Boycott the Chili bowl? Good luck. Maybe you could boycott Lawton and see some results but not anywhere else. I will type an article from my new Flatout Magazine here in the next few days titled "When did promoters stop promoting". Very interesting.

That sounds good you never know what could come from it. Anything positive would help a lot. At least treat the people that put the money in his pocket like human beings. It is a start and thank you.
