Without the sheep's foot the track would never hold together under the pounding of the rear tires. It would be like racing in a plowed field. Including lots of torn up race cars and injured drivers. Knoxville has been using one for YEARS & YEARS, so if the sheep's foot is the problem you must have never seen a good race at Knoxville. The problem tonite was the track was too wet & heavy. That makes everyone who gets the setup close fast. Notice it was almost impossible to spin out tonite? Notice without the bottom grove getting sealed over and slick there was no need for cars to move up the track to find moisture? That's why the track did not widen out. A heavy, fast, narrow track will never have much passing. Whether it's been sheep's footed or not will not make a difference.

Where was Duane's post last week?

How could you not like the 410 "A" main tonight?

It is not about a sheep's foot. It is about 100% Dirt and a track spending the money to water it every day from Tuesday through Saturday at 6:15pm. You can't just water a track a prep it starting Friday night.

I remember in my only 25 years of life, when you could walk on the track AFTER the A main and the track was still so tacky you would lose your shoe. NOW, you can't even get that before Hotlaps.

this was not about Knoxville, sorry, I should have mentioned that. and I did not go to the races last week, I stayed at home and watched TV.

Knoxville had some very fast, but non passing heats but a good feature, unlike some places.

BTW one of the best races I have been to in the past 5 years was at Wilmot a few years ago. the features were called due to track conditions following an all day rain, but the heats were raced on what looked to be a mine field, literley like a plowed fied, but the heats of all classes were won from the last row.

A smooth track is a car owners delight, and a drivers dream, but Wilmot that night had the best set of heats of the year anyplace without a doubt.

Rough tracks can put the driver back into the picture also.

I can remember nights when the ruts were bigger than the drivers, ledges a foot tall, and guys like Shane Carson and Randy Smith simply would ignore the ruts and put on a lesson in passing,
