10/12/26 TMS FALL RACING UPDATE:

There are still THREE huge weekends of racing remaining at the Texas Motor Speedway's Dirt Track and Lil' TMS!

The first is THIS WEEKEND, Oct. 16-17 with the running of the High Limit Racing All-In Series Championship, paying $50,000 to win on the finale, which will also determine the series championship - which is still up for grabs! To purchase tickets, visit: https://highlimitracing.regfox.com/season-finale-at-texas...

Also, THIS WEEK there is a non-racing event, when Speedway Children’s Charities and Tony Stewart Racing will host the 2nd Annual Tony Stewart Bowling Tournament on October 14, 2026 - featuring RICO Abreu, Christopher Bell, Tony Stewart, EJ Tackett, Sean Rash Fan Page – and a host of others! Visit https://www.speedwaycharities.org/.../tony-stewart.../ for details.

The next event will be the Oct. 30-31st POWRi/NOW600 National Micros competing for two nights of action at the Lil' Texas Motor Speedway Dirt Track. Grandstand tickets will be available upon your arrival at the track on race nights.

The final weekend of racing will be the highly anticipated return of the Deuces Wild Championship on Nov. 6-7, featuring the Series championship of the POWRi National 410 Winged Sprint Cars, the Heartland Late Model tour and the USRA American Racer Modified Series. This triple header was a blast last year, and you can save $22 on grandstand 2-day passes – click the POWRi link at the top of this page: www.darinshort.com for complete event information!

And if you're wondering how a 45 point lead in HL translates to finishing positions, here's a pretty easy way to visualize it:

Rico has 3057 points, Gio 3012.

Difference 45 points.

It pays 77 points to win and 9th place pays 55 points.

So, for example, if Rico finishes 9th each night and Gio finishes 1st each night, Rico will win the points championship by 1 point.

In Aaron's case, for example, he is 77 points out, at 2980. If he were to win both features, that would be 154 points, which means Rico would have to finish 17th each night (39 points/night) to win the championship title by 1 point.

And one final example, if the above scenario happened where Aaron won both nights and Rico averaged 38 or less points a night, Gio would need to finish 6th each night - and if that happened - Aaron and Gio would tie in points.

Lots of interesting scenarios and possibilities exist beyond these three quick examples heading into championship weekend.

INJURY REPORT: Aaron Reutzel and Ridge & Sons Racing to Utilize Medical Provisional at Texas Motor Speedway

RSR #87 to Receive 47pts Each Night with 8.18 Rounded Finish Plus Five Positions

FORT WORTH, TEX. (October 12, 2026) — Due to injuries sustained in Lakeside Speedway’s Heartland of America Showdown on Saturday, October 10, Ridge & Sons Racing’s Aaron Reutzel will forgo the High Limit Racing All-In Championship Weekend at Texas Motor Speedway, and instead, utilize a Medical Provisional. The decision follows Reutzel’s visit with medical professionals on Monday; he was not cleared for competition.

“Aaron’s health is our number one priority, and since he is unable to compete in the High Limit Racing season finale, our season at Ridge & Sons Racing is complete,” Ryan Wyant, Ridge & Sons Racing Team Manager, stated. “It was a great year and we have much to be proud of. But for now, our focus is on Aaron and giving him the support that he needs. We’ll see everyone in 2027.”

The team utilize Medical Provisionals set forth by the Interstate Batteries High Limit Racing rulebook.

Nice work Darin! Sorry to hear AR won't be able run, nobody likes to see an injured driver. That being said.....that provisional rule is bogus. I can maybe, MAYBE see show up points for the team standings IF it showed but 47 out of a possible 77 for the driver is beyond silly. Does the team get that too? Maybe it doesn't even matter, I didn't look at the points.

Thanks Michael_N.  Couple responses from your post:

First off, in this exact case, the medical provisional points, Gio is currently 32 points ahead of Aaron, and Aaron will earn 47 points a night (total of 94), less the 32 Gio is ahead, is 62 points. The very minimum Gio can earn over the weekend is 50 points, which means if he finishes 21st each night (31 x 2), the two would tie for 2nd place in driver points.

Medical provisionals have been around for quite some time, and in this case, it doesn't keep another driver from qualifying for the feature.

Regarding the Deuces Wild Championship, I'm really fond of this event as both POWRi and TMS have allowed me to come up with some really solid fan-friendly and family-friendly components to the event.

The 2-day adult pass is a crazy awesome deal for this event, as fans hardly every get to see three premier dirt divisions racing on the same night for about the price of one ticket to an average series event.

I also like that the racing teams in these three divisions rarely get to race together, so there's a really cool vibe in the pits and you can see lots of drivers checking out cars in the other divisions. It's fun walking through the pits to see for fans too. Lots of merch on sale...and some good deals can be found as teams are trying to clear out their inventory.

And by moving time trials to Thursday night,  fans will see nothing but racing on Friday and Saturday night - two complete, separate events in each of the three divisions.

And it's series championship for all three divisions, which will certainlly add to the 'race within a race' for fans to keep up with.

The time change hits the week before the Deuces, and the schedule recognizes that, as start time (not hot laps) start at 7pm on Friday and 6:30pm on Saturday night, so that should help keep the show from ending too late nightly...especially with no time trials on race night like last year.

Plus there are no pre-entry fees or paved pit parking fees - in the stands or pits, so that's nice as well.

We just need decent weather and it'll make for a super way to close out the dirt racing season for a lot of teams and fans.

Hope some of you can make it here! Lots of good flight deals in to DFW and lots of smokin' deals on hotels weekends around here - paired with pretty inexpensive tickets, it could make for a fun getaway and you get to see drivers from 10+ states compete.

Smile

Lots of high-speed chess moves and passing last night, winner from 7th, second from 11th and add another 5 laps to the feature tonight.

Speaking of tonight, the 'feels like' temp will be about 10 degrees higher, so that will help a lot for those in the stands. Yesterday was the first day it hasn't been hot in DFW for like 6 months, so it was quite the cold front that moved through. But much more pleasant today.

At the moment, online tickets are still for sale at:  https://highlimitracing.regfox.com/season-finale-at-texas-motor-speedway-ticket-page

It was an excellent HL finale nigh at TMS on Saturday. And fans got to see what they came for: the two title contenders battling it out with each other the last 5 laps of the feature race.

Afterwards, I didn't hear one 'boo' in the stands for either of the drivers, just loud long rounds of cheers for both Gio and Rico. 35 410's in the pits and no wrecks and different lines to race on.

TMS seats 13,307 and it was solid 7,000-8,000 in the stands. The middle three sections of reserved were sold out with the other three sections where we were pretty full as well.

Here are a few pics I grabbed from the night.

Pic 1 - Crowd

Pic 2 - The fan entrance to the immaculate TMS Dirt Track

Pic 3 - My 87 year old mom saying hi to Gus. She used to race snowmobiles on ice oval tracks throughout the upper midwest and Canada (as I did) and she still works two full-time jobs. She has lots of pioneer stock in her. And we've been going to races together since a supermodified and a champ car had sex and created the first sprint car in 1971.

Pic 4 - Mom and veteran sprint car driver Wayne Brown in the stands having a good time.
