I didn't go Wednesday because Kyle was racing. Great driver but it gets old and not very fun to watch when one driver dominates. Both major series formats SUCK but fans keep paying to see it so it will never change. And since the fastest cars start at the front of all the races and Kyle is faster than anyone I made the right choice and watched it on TV.

?  No driver is, or has ever been unbeatable.  Steve Kinser lost 23 races in 1987 and was considered invincible.  Schatz in his hayday and Larson today are about as close to Kinser's 1987 as we've gotten, but I would never say in any of the years of Kinser, Schatz, or Larson's 2020 for example that there were other drivers as good.  That's just silly.  At the pace Larson is once again setting this season, claiming others are just as talented is just ridiculous.  They're not.

I feel like you're confusing me with someone else who posted above. I'm certainly not saying Larson is unbeatable.

Back to my original line of thought. Let's say you pay to go to a race put on by a traveling sanction that has one outstanding driver, a couple of drivers almost as good, and a bunch of regional and local guys who don't stand much of a chance. If the outstanding driver stomps the competition big time, is that entertaining?

Our fanbase sure seemed mesmerized when Steve Kinser did it for decades at an even higher frequency...

You never saw the "anybody but Kinser" signs?

Back 40 years ago, the WoO circus only came to town about once a year, so it was a novelty. This year, my local track has WoO races 8 nights out of 20. Is having two big traveling sanctions with high dollar teams beating the locals still entertaining?

Well you got the board going again so congrats haha. I'll bite and say yes it is still entertaining and we have seen this dynamic through other forms of motorsports in the past as well. Kinser, Schatz, Petty, Earnhardt, Gordon, Johnson, Andretti, Schumacher, Force, etc.

I think the thing that people get held up on is the fact he races in Nascar and that is the perceived better skill based form of racing. I am not sure that is 100& the case anymore and the example of an athlete in the NBA, NFL, NHL, MLB going to a "lower" or "minor" league being the same as Larson running a sprint car. Like them or hate them, criticize their accomplishments all you want but when guys like Tony Stewart, Kasey Kahne, Jeff Gordon, JJ Yeley, and Kyle Larson all say that there is no form of racing like a 410 winged sprint car that acts completely different than anything that they have driven. I think a majority of drivers find a discipline that they can drive and have success in, whether it be Nascar, Indy car, IMSA, Trans AM, 4x4, sprint cars, late models, etc. I think a fair amount of those drivers could potentially go to other forms and be competitive (not neccessarily win consistenly). However, only a select few can go across multiple forms and have success.

Larson is one of those who is just that skilled and talented, like it or not. I hated Jeff Gordon as a kid (meaning did not like it when he won). Could not stand it when he won, went to 2 races in person that he won and felt it was a waste. However, I will admit I hated him because he was good and wished it was someone else that I won. Racing is no different than if you are an Ohio State fan and Michigan wins or vise versa, the excuses start flying about how the other team cheated. Or a Bears fan and the Packers fan, there is no way that could happen legally. Larson winning to some is just the person they like the least succeeding and when he loses its a win for the good guys. Thats all this is. Its not a form of racing issue, its not a format issue, its not a money issue, not a series issue, its the fact that someone is just good and a certain group of people do not like it.

Look at the crowds compared to the nights when the traveling circus isn't in town---the answer is still yes...
