You can only beat the other cars that show up!
Ginger Sweet and Golden Boy Larson could have been there, but were not.

I don't know about beating them with a 360, but it is damn impressive for him to still be competing in a 410, let alone win a race. Love him or hate him, he has been one of the best to ever strap in a sprint car.

Not saying I know every sprint car driver's name but I never heard of even one of the 11 other drivers that showed up. 2k to win, $250 for 5th.

This arguement puts me in mind of one night the people next to me were laughing about Jim Kennedy not competing for the win in 305's. He was 82 at the time. I said there comes a time when you gotta give credit for being able to get in and out of the thing. Jim is still racing some I think. I am not sure of his age now.

Father time usually wis . Sammy was one of the best. Names I remember Cassius Clay Archie Moore Babe Ruth all did what they loved for too long.Sammys pass of Gravel was a highlite reel moment. Just to be able to still do it and have the fans cheer is an addiction. I personally raced until 75 and told someone after an average finish I used to be competitive now I am just a competitor. On one of Sammys interview after being taken out in his mind was all these kids need is a pit pass to show up and race and many dont know how to drive. Even if the competition was average STILL WINNING was the winner and also beat all the ones that didnt show up. Terry is still good but 10 years younger!

Sammy could have won that race with a 305. But still winning any race at his age is remarkable. I just hope I can still drive on the highway at his age, much less wrestle and control the baddest type of race car on the planet around a track for 25 laps.
It'll be interesting to see if they show up to the Powri race next week. I assume that's what the practice night was for.

I agree that it was a pracice night. Paul Hart has been racing, and now owning, sprint cars for a long time. Last year he had TMez in the car for a few races. I also hope that Sammy is in the car for eh Powri race on Saturday.

You are so insulting. Who in the HELL are you to say these people are nobodies?
Answer this question without the " I have the fact" and the rest of the crap you spew.
Just answer with how the hell you feel you can put down anyone driving a racecar as a nobody.
After that you just need a punch in the face

If you saw the 2025 nationals then you heard Sammy say," you put me in Gravels car and I will kick his ass!" hahaha

I'm struggling right now with giving up on ever winning another sprint car race again. Why am I doing this? I've won my last race. Quit trying so hard and just enjoy being a part of the show.
But then you see Sammy winning a race at 69. I'm only 43. If I bust my ass for the next two decades and still able to get just one more win, FUCK its worth it!
My car is already loaded in the trailer. Racing Carolina Speedway on Friday night. Tires are perfect, bolts torqued, engine tuned, fuel settings as best I can do. Notes taken.
If Sammy can win a 410 race at 69, I have a chance to win a 305 race at 43.
How the F*** can someone almost 70 years old even get in a sprint car, much less handle the abuse of everything that car is going to throw at you. Just riding around under caution can make you sick in your stomach. How are his eyes able to keep up? My neck is always killing me. Legs banging against the roll cage hurt so much the next morning. The amount of nose picking the next morning!
Literally every racer in the world will tell you winged 410ci cars are the absolute most dangerous and unpredicable cars in the world.
No matter where he was or who he beat, the fact that he sat down in a 410ci winged sprint car at age 69 and won is one of the most amazing accomplishments in racing history.
If you don't think this... Lets continue the conversation in 20 years with Stewart and 40 years with Larson!
