Tod is a great supporter of sprint car racing but the redesign of Jackson is a swing and a miss. Tracks with sharper corners like Lincoln will usually have better racing. 25 square feet of downforce is too much. Take the traction away and we'll see who can really drive these things.

The passing debate always makes me laugh. Of course you're going to have more passing at a weekly show where there are likely inverts, and the falloff is incredible after the top 6-8 guys. When you have Glendon Forsythe and Chris Arnold (cue the organ music) starting on the front row, how can there not be exchanges for the lead? Comparing this to an Outlaw or HL race is laughable. This is why everyone thought the old All-Star series was so great. It reminded them of the 1980's World of Outlaws where you had 3 giants playing in the sandbox with kids.
If you're saying it was great racing and entertainment, leave it at that. But you cannot help but take a dig which is silly because those 2 series would likely have waxed the entire top 10 if they were there----passing or not. "just sayin"

At it again are you? SMH.... Why is it that you don't like when people enjoy racing the way they want to? Always hacking on handi capped races because you think the fastest cars should start up front. Always commenting on how people really don't know how to watch a race. Why don't you stick to your time trial races and not comment about racing that you don't care for. I hope you come to PA sometime and sit by me and tell me how I should enjoy a race. You're really worse than Strawser at this point.

I was at Lincoln Saturday and the show was great we'll run home before eleven. I went knowing it was just a local handicapped race and Port had a bigger show that was gonna pull a few cars away maybe, I didn't care I don't need time trial shows every week. So what if Forsythe and Arnold are on the front row them guys are long time veterans and are there every week and if the circumstances are right can pick off a feature. That's why I went not to see one of the top teams sweep the night start on the pole and lead every lap. I understand some people prefer time trials and big names but some of us like to see good racing and maybe a low buck guy have a shot at a win. By the way Forsythe led almost half the feature and was getting through lapped traffic pretty good till a caution killed his momentum.

You don't see the irony? You're bashing me for telling you how you should enjoy the races on a thread where I responded to someone for telling me how I should enjoy races? This thread wasn't started to tell us what a great night of racing he saw at Lincoln. It was meant to stick a knife in those of us that enjoy the national tours, and twist it. So, just as you responded, I responded.
To me, comparing the WoO to a weekly show is like comparing the WWE to the NCAA Wrestling Championships. The WWE may be more entertaining to most Americans, but the NCAA is better wrestling. No need for the gimmicks. Inverts to put slow cars in front of fast cars turns racing into the WWE. And no, I wasn't going to bring it up until this thread did. If you enjoy it, enjoy it. If you're gonna tell me how dumb I am for liking anything different, I'm going to throw it back at ya.

He actually didn't tell you how to watch a race. He told us what good race he saw and that from what he viewed elsewhere his night was better. You always get on here bash anyone who has an opinion similar to what Wolfie said. If there is no need for gimmicks then why do we have dashes and wheel spins. Your theory is the fast cars need to start up front. Ok while I've always loved double file restarts in the discipline of racing I grew up on, why did the top tier freight train series move to it. I'm told by purists that's a gimmick. Some folks like watching guys move thru the field and be up front at the end. You prefer your style. Get over it. The reality is the top tier series should just run the disaster we know as time trials, take an hour break for the fans to meet and greet the teams, then start them heads up. No point in 8 lap practice sessions(heats) with or with out an invert, dashes, and the like.

Don't overlook the fact that smaller race tracks have more passing. That's just the nature of the beast.

There's lots of passing if you include the lapped cars in the back. In the 410's, it doesn't take but 4 or 5 laps on the bullrings like Huset's & Grand Forks.

Thats how I've always thought, but (slight digression), Placerville struck me as a weird little track. Locals ruled, "Big Boys" didn't do much. Marks & Rico finished WAY back. Too narrow? or are the straights too short for Top Dogs to build up speed? Locals knew how to run it....
Not much passing for the lead, except last lap pass for the win, but SOME of the big names did a lot of passing from the back (Sweet & Thorson)

Boy, some of you guys take the invert serious. It reminds me of a shirt I saw back in the day that said "A bad day at the racetrack is better than a good day at work". I think some of you guys need to remember that.

Marks is no longer a serious contender, hasnt been for a few years. He's still a threat in PA for the big races but nationally elsehwere somewhat of an also ran.

So don't widen the track out for the features? Ok

OK, 4th in HL points last year, 3rd HL points this year with two wins, has won the Kings Royal & I Think Williams Grove National.

I agree with dsc---he has not been near the threat this year as he was a few years back. Nothing against him, but the numbers don't lie.

You are right the numbers don't lie. They just might not tell story you want to hear. When you are 3rd or 4th in points in either national series you are deffinatley runnig with them.
