This late in the season he should have offered Donnie an end of the partnership tribute for the rest of the season. Maybe he did and Donnie said kiss off.
|
Interview I read from Flo (transcript wise) states that the offer was not made. From what Donny had said, he had not spoken to Tony in months. Tony in his Interview with Flo (I think Kyle McFadden did both) stated Donny had been miserable for months. Both were interesting and had you told me 3-4years ago that this is how this relationship would end I would have told you that you were crazy. There are things about the whole deal that make me side with Donny on this and I have been a Tony Stewart fan through his whole career. But when Kevin Harvick on his show a year ago states that Tony is a hands off boss, then Donny says he has spoken to him in months, and states that Tony gets his information from others, it kind of leads me to believe that maybe Tony is not the best boss to work for.
At the end of the day, it is Tony's team, money, and decision. However, it sounds like he may need to consider looking a little deeper on his race teams if he wants the success he expects. Donny also had said he thought they had made a commitment to finish the season and from reading the interview, was not pleased with having to pease together rides in order to get his portion of the end of year drivers point fund

I felt bad for him as well. Any human being would be humbled in that situation. Did Schatz become someone who people can cheer for now? I never bought a Schatz shirt, and did boo him many times during the Nationals streak but I don't like how his time with TSR ended and can appeciate his importance to spring car racing. I get why Tony made that decision but don't like how it was done, however it's obviously his team, money and he can do whatever he chooses.
I think DS has much to give back to the sport, in a car, so hoping he can find something long term and fight for wins with the WOO.

I NEVER booed him, but always wanted somebody else to win
Now I'd love to see him make a comeback!
I think plenty of us feel that way....

According to Dirt Vision schedule the WOO will be at Mississippi Thunder tonight. Be interesting if Donny will be back in Big Game car personally having to have frame repaired for Jackson didnt seem like that big of obstacle for a team of that caliber. The frame is one of cheaper parts compared to motors which possibly could have been hurt. Main thing Donny wasnt injured . Different series in HL but Aaron and Sunshine chances of winning championship were ended in two violent crashes. Just observation but been easier to let Donny finish last few races and save the drama for off season. In a perfect world Donny would have won first race in Big Game car but racing is a tough sport sometimes.

This situation reminds me of the Lasoski/TSR split. Tony told the dude the team was his for as long as he was racing. He ended up fired too, and it didn't end well.

Didn't they have some sort of agreement that Tony would sell Danny the team for 1 dollar whenever they decided to part ways?

If it's well known, then why not say it insteady of saying "it's not a performance issue. I know why, but I'm not going to tell you guys"

Maybe because he doesn't want to slander the Dude on the off chance the well known (I have heard them) rumours are not true. You don't repete that kind of thing unless you are 100% sure it's true....

Exactly. Jimmy Carr was crew cheif at time you might ask him. To me been better to wait until end of season. Donny has earned respect with his outstanding carreer. Even at 48 He is still a top 10 driver and can pass cars and win.

This should add some "facts" to the discussion on what he can do with a top crew chief . I'm liking this agreement

Ricky Paul and Cody are the best in business. Donnys run to 11th at Nationals was a good run. Qualifing and making the dash is a big deal. Some of the best racing of the year has been on short tracks which requires daring moves that sometimes results in DNFs which isnt the way Schatz usually races.Hope He can finish year with win. He has earned the utmost respect and past record speaks for itself with nothing to prove when He decides to retire from full time racing. We have all watched some of the greatest of all time keep trying to defeat Father Time and none has.
