Excited to go to Eldora next week and sit in the new spacious grandstand. Also will be great to see a well prepared dust free race track. Oh crap I was just dreaming. Will be the same crowed fifty year old grandstand and track so dusty you can't see the cars.Hey Tony that wet stuff in the ponds outside the track is called water, try putting some, no a lot of it on the track. Watched Pa. speedweek and never a hint of dust. Maybe Tony should hire the Pa. track crews to prepare his track..

Is this Robert Ballou? Haha He says the same things. I don't mind a greasy hard curbed Eldora. Seen some good shows in the slick though too. Almost miserable to spectate in person but I'll still go back someday.

Went to Eldora for the first time in 25 years for the Four Crown Nationals last fall. The USAC sprint car feature was the first time in 70 years of going to races that I just quit trying to see the cars and watched ther score board. Still thinking of giving a try again this fall. It was in the ninties that day. It can happen anywhere under conditions like that. The seating did make me appreciate Port Royals.

With the hot weather we could be looking at a record low F.Q.I. (fan quality index). Too many middle aged adolescents, felons, power drinkers, and trustees of modern chemistry. They need Dalton from Roadhouse to clean it up.
When the tagline in the new Eldora KR commercials on social media is "Come for the race, stay for the party" then cutting to Mrs. Larson shotgunning a beer you know the priorities could be slightly askew.
But it is what it is, and I'll probably still be there as I have since 1987.

Went to the speedweek show and dust wasn't a problem at all. Walked out and didn't even have to dust myself off all night. With 4 nights of racing, I would imagine your going to get an iffy track at least once. That's just the way it is.

Its been 10 years now since but I did go for about 12 years straight. Sat on the concrete pad just past the bleachers going into turn 1. I got blasted every year I went. Goggles were a must if you wanted to see.

Enter one of the variables, the weather.
At this point it doesn't appear to be 100 degrees and gale force winds like Huset's, and there are some precip chances showing along the way:
Wed 16 PM Thunderstorms 88°/68°, 34% Precip, SW 6 mph
Thu 17 Scattered Thunderstorms, 80°/61°, 57% precip, WNW 9 mph
Fri 18 Partly Cloudy, 81°/59°, 24% precip, N 8 mph
Sat 19 Partly Cloudy, 82°/60°, 22% precip, NNE 7 mph

I first went to eldora around' '78 and missed very few sprint car shows there for 40? years. I'd get excited a month before going just as a fan and more so as a owner/driver.... now and it's been this way a while I don't care if I go or not. I'm 90 miles from there and if there's anything else to do I'm doing it.
And the recent announcement that the Thursday show will be broadcast live on FS1 they couldnt drag me there... with the 2 hour window of 7-9 to show the C, B & A it'll be a rushed along daytime show.

Every June or July there always has to be some stupid comment on here about Eldora or some track in Ohio not watering their track. Even though we have had complete downpours on the tracks the day of the race and there still is dust. It is just the nature of the clay/dirt. Not to mention the temperature and direct sunlight the track has on it all day does not help. 2 years ago we stayed over night and sat in the stands Thursday afternoon and watched as they watered and worked on the track for hours but it never fails that all throughout social media and on here you get the "they lost the keys to the water truck" from all the track prep experts.
Not sure why there is a complaint about the grandstand. Its a concrete slab that is basically built on a hill. A new grandstand would be a serious undertaking there based on the layout of the whole grounds. Not only would it take time, it would take money and a lot of you complain about the cost of the tickets now. The only real issue with the grandstand for me for the Kings Royal are the people in the grandstands. As one person stated, the Fan Quality Index really goes down the crapper for Kings Royal day and its been stretching throughout the week the past couple of years. Usually the first few days are enjoyable, everyone acting like race fans enjoying themselves, casual conversations. Then Saturday comes and it seems like every town drunk comes to New Weston to see who can get the drunkest the fastest and the loudest and most obnoxious. Its not the end of civiliation but, you can see it from there.
6-7yrs ago when people would ask Kings Royal or Knoxville I would say they are both great events and worth seeing. With the way the people have gotten at Eldora for that event, its Knoxville hands down. The event is far better, the people are better, the experience is better.
