‘Joel Taylor Special’ unveiled & set to race at Jackson Motorplex this season!

Milford, IA (4/28/22) by DarinShort.com. One of the most popular sprint car drivers in Jackson Speedway (MN) history was Joel Taylor, who lived nearby in the Iowa Great Lakes town of Milford, Iowa. And today, the ‘Joel Taylor Special’ has been unveiled, as an effort to commemorate his career.

The project was spearheaded by Brandon Schuette of TopNotch Graphix in Milford, IA. Brandon would like to extend special thanks to all the crew and people that had a hand in this project. The goal is he hopes everyone that had something to do with Joel's car back then and his fans will appreciate seeing this ‘JT Special’ at the track.

The ‘JT Special’ will be driven in 2022 by Andrew Sullivan of Milford, IA. Johnny Sullivan and Brandon Schuette talked about this project over a year ago. He wanted the next #91 305 car to be orange. Joel Taylor was Johnny's favorite driver, and Brandon knew that they needed to duplicate Joel's hood design and have yellow numbers.

Although Joel never raced a car with a painted and lettered wing, Brandon figured if he had, it might look something similar to this design featured in the attached pictures.

Joel Taylor, son of Glenn and Marylee Taylor, was employed as a very skilled engineer at Mcquay’s in Spirit Lake, Iowa – while not tearing up the dirt in nearby tracks on the weekends.

Besides area tracks of Jackson, Huset’s, Fairmont, Spencer and Hartford, Taylor would also venture out to major events at Knoxville Raceway, Eldora Speedway and Manzanita Speedway – often being towed across the land by the brightly painted Spirit Lake Bakery maxi-van.

If you’d like to learn more about Joel Taylor, the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame & Museum commemorated him with a display. Click the following Facebook link to check it out:

Brandon and crew would like to wish the best of luck to Andrew, and all the teams competing this season!

KInd of weird. On one browser 3 of the pics aren't working, on another they are.

I'm reposting those 3 pictures separately in case your browser doesn't show them properly (like some of you have messaged me).
