Split announcing sucks. And it's not just Bruce or the Port guys. It sucks at Knoxville and everywhere else they do it. I'm sure intentions are well as to why they do it at big shows, but it just doesn't flow with two guys. Johnny Gibson calls it perfect when he's alone. Why mess with it?

Great job Port track crew. Fast all night. Thats the way I like it. No slip and slide track. Foot to the floor! I hope tonight the track will be just as good.

Betcha it won't. Posse did a great job last night. Yea even pain man Strawser can't admit the track was good all night. But yes he did have to mentioned that it used to happen all the time. After seeing shatz with the speed he had I was really shocked to see him go backwards. Sweet gets caught up in that tangle between 3 and 4 and still finished 1 spot ahead of logan. Geez. On to night 2. Stay home strawser.

Track was fast last night. I am pretty sure they will not have it perfect two straight nights. Tonight they have the 305 too. Time will tell.
It looked like I wasn't the only one that decided not to go to the Juniata county oval last night. A lot of empty seats.
The good old days when the lights would go out multiple times during the year.
Schatz just can't seem to be consistent like he used to be.
Let's go Sprint Car Racing!
Knoxville - Best Track In the USA!
Eldora - 2nd Best Track in the USA!

I was there last night and sitting in turn 4 right in front of the incident. Haven't been able to wattch the replays yet on dirt vision but can someone explain to me how Brad was involved in the pileup but Logan got thru it all yet Brad restarted only 2 spots behind Logan?

As good as Gibson is, I welcome a break from him from time to time. And he needs that break to prepare for announcing the next driver or event.

I agree, I just don't want the break to be the guy from Port Royal.

What a sparse crowd last night...After being packed to the gills last weekend at Williams Grove for the National Open, and the same for The Tusky 50, I was shocked to see all the empty seats, especially for a picture perfect October day weatherwise. It might have been one of the lighest crowds I have seen at Port Royal in a long time. Any ideas why? Are the Central Pa fans finally tapped out after 5 or 6 staright weekends of high admission big races?

I think tonight will be larger, but this race weekend following the Grove National Open isn't the smartest. I wish the Outlaws would come to Port in the spring/summer. If they didn't have to be in Charlotte for Memorial day weekend, that weekend with The Weikert Memorial would be sweet.

Friday night high school football perhaps? I suspect tonight's crowd will be larger.

Only 16 cars were on the lead lap at the time (well after a couple of the drivers involved dropped out). Brad was 13th & I think logan was one of the last cars on the lead lap. Brad fired up and did not go to the work area allowing him to move by Marks & McFadden in the order restarting 14th or so. Outlaws & All Stars you line up by position.

When Larson starts on pole the beat racing is when he gets to the lapped cars and doesnt make the best racing.Could he have came fron 8th is doubtful but he always moves forward The top 6 cars are all capable of winning and clean air is always a factor Still fun to watch

My bigger problem is the pit announcing, and not with the guys that do it. Why don't they get wireless mics that work all the time? I really don't care for most of the interviews they do anyway, but it's frustrating when they ask a driver a question and the mic either doesn't work at all or else there's little or no volume. Then several seconds later the sound comes up to a level you can hear, but may be so low it's barely audible. And by the time it does come up to an audible level you've already missed at least part of what the driver said anyway. That would be one of my only problems with DirtVision.

The pace he was sitting most likely less than 10cars would have been on the lead lap if that thing green all the way. But I don't know if he would have been able to pass the top 7 cars like you said from starting there especially if the front 2-3 are in cleaner air. That is how racing at some of the big tracks is now because guys are able to keep their momentum up a majority of the time. It is fun to watch from a speed standpoint though

We had to deal with wireless mics at the hockey rink whenever there was a broadcast going on and 9.99999times out of 10 it is not the mic, its trying to get the signal. The type of material our buildings were made of made it next to impossible for the mics to pick up the signal, and some of the tracks depending on how they have to setup it can make for less than ideal situations. Not sure if this is a factor but in some of the in car interviews I think the problem might actually be the wing blocks the signal from the wireless mic to get to where it needs to go. Not sure where the device that receives the signal is and if it is in the dirtvision trailer or up in the booth which could cause issues with material the grandstand is made out of, material the windows are made of, and again distance of the booth to the mic.

No, when you run the track in as hard as they run them in now a days. You need to have water down in the track, unlike the Port. Some nights Port has this. Most nights they don't. It is hard black and dry before warmups are over. That is not and never will be sprintcar racing.
When you have multiple divisions in one evening that is when you should have it wetter than normal. If you don't you will have good heats and a boring feature. I know I don't pay to see the heats and I know the drivers would rather have a racey race track for the feature than the heats. The heats don't pay anything.......but yeah I guess some tracks would rather have the heats be better than the feature. That is so messed up.
Have the track wet at the beginning of the night and by feature time you will have a great racey track. Instead of having that in the heats. See last Saturday at Williamsgrove. Track was great for the heats....the feature was kind of boring.....except for seeing Larson passing some cars. The track was way too dry for good racing in the feature last week and it took rubber.
Let's go Sprint Car Racing!
Knoxville - Best Track In the USA!
Eldora - 2nd Best Track in the USA!

Yep, slot cars around the cushion. Hopefully the track will slick off a little more tonight and the cushion will be right up along the fence. That's when you see amazing racing at the speed palace.
