So do you have a magic 8 ball that let you know that Lance , Danny, Anthony and Ryan were going to be there? Would you have been cheated if you walked thru the gate and those drivers were not there? If they weren't there would you have turned around and walked out? My guess is no and you would be complaining today that those guys were not there and you were not going to buy anything from them and we should boycott them for cheating you out of seeing them.
|
I guess I have a magic 8 ball? I call it twitter, the internet, facebook, etc. Pretty easy to find out who is going where night to night. Your guess is wrong - if DD hadn't gone there is a very good chance I wouldn't have gone (Saturday night DD said he wasn't sure if he was going Sunday due to wrecking his car). Now that chance would have gone to zero percent if Lance, Ryan and Anthony had all said they wouldn't be there as well.

I'm glad you noticed! Hopefully people significantly more important than you also noticed!

Get a grip brother. You take this stuff WAY too serious.
Trust me, you've let everybody know you are way over the top with this.

Nick, you and I butted heads a few weeks ago, but I completely agree with all three of your posts on this thread. I too will continue to support the All Stars. I wouldn't blame them if they dropped the PA races in 2020 and offered those dates up to Ohio and other regions. I doubt they'd have any problems filling those dates in. And cudos to them once again for stepping up to support Brad Doty with his Classic at Attica soon.
I've seen some good hissy fits here over the years, but W2Motorports, yours takes first place. Nobody takes Strawser seriously anyway, so his meltdown doesn't count! (just kidding BStrawser!)
A other have said - mistakes are made. Shit happens, and life is not fair.
If I'm not mistaken, the sun came up yesterday morning in Central PA and everyone survived.
|
I wouldn't have called it "butting heads." More of a difference in perception of a facility but my view was more of multiple bad experiences (not from a racing standpoint b.c the racing is always good), and a bad personal interaction with someone there as well which I won't spew all over the internet or social media. But I won't ever tell people to boycott or avoid going to a race at a track because of the track or sanctioning body, nor would I wish anyone failure. If I criticize its mostly to try to be constructive so places can improve and typically a lot of people are in agreement. We are all free to make decisions on how we each spend our hard earned money and telling people avoid this place or don't support those people is not what the sport needs. I support the Outlaws, FAST, AFSC, BOSS, All Stars, and as many tracks as I can. No sanctioning body or track is perfect but when you look at the full body of work, I would give the All Stars an overal postivie grade. This 1 situation would not change it.

You’re not as important as you think you are. And the only people who notice you are laughing at you for acting like they ran over your dog for enforcing rules.

I'm not important at all when it comes to racing, no argument from me. Unlike the important people I have to try harder to make sure my opinion is heard. As far as the second part of your post, if you say so, I've got messages that say otherwise but you are entitled to your incorrect opinion. If somone wants to dislike me for sharing my opinion then so be it, I don't know you and you disliking me has zero affect on my life so it is fine with me. You do you my man.

As explained previously:
Boycotting the series will cause attendance to be lower which would be the only way a track would consider dropping the ASCOC sanction. In reality the crowd at both races will be fine, even if everyone who was at Baps (not likely) didnt go to Port they would still have a good crowd.
Let's be honest if this had been Knoxville and they DQed Brian Brown, Austin Mccarl, Terry Mccarl, and Kerry Madsen on lap one the crowd would have been just as rowdy. It was bullshit plain and simple.

THANK YOU!

Sorry, A.D.D through 6 pages now... why do they have this rule? I think someone mentioned signalling the driver.
If so, they've been doing that forever. How much of an advantage can that really be - especially if everyone can do it?

Sounded to me like they were designating a work area for the teams if needed. This was many teams interpretation. Should all team members stay in the work area at port in 2 weeks? Might be pretty crowded and dangerous. And one last question, will a car be dq'd if the team thinks outside the box?

Not sure the extent of the 69k's pissed off level, but if it's bad enough I think it's well known of the "grudge level" Ask Selinsgrove Speedway.

So who is considered a crew member ? In Lance's Victory Lane photo on the Hoseheads front page, I count 18 people. Are these all considered crew ? Must Donny say to all of them," Everybody to the box and don't move !". Absurd !
Maybe if all the people that walked out went to the track office and demanded their money back, something surely will be done to correct the injustice.

I thought the exact same thing.....it has been many years since you have seen the 69K race at Selinsgrove. Despite all the recent upgrades and several promotors later.....I truely hope it doesn't happen with BAPS as well. The ironey is both Donny & Lance have run very well at both tracks over the years and have caashed a lot of big checks.......

I hold the All Stars responsible on this one, BAPS still had to pay the purse so I didn't even consider trying to go up there I'm sure they are already disappointed with how the night turned out. If the All Stars wants to refund the fans for that BS on the other hand I'm all for it. I'll take my $22 in the form of a donation to the Wounded Warrior Project.

I like to think they would understand BAPS had their hands tied. As the people were streaming out of the track on lap one the security guard at the gate was telling everyone it was the All Stars not the track. I'm sure if Soctt would of tried to put a stop to it the ASCOC would of just stopped the race or had their guys pull off which would have been just as bad for the fans.

Do not be so sure, it was only a couple of years ago they DQ'd Danny for being late to staging. That was not a sanctioned event. For decent money anyone will come, but for a 5000 show they may have lost 4 of the top teams.

What I wish would have happened was after 1 team was DQd everyone in the box should have stepped over the line so everyone was disqualified, or since they would not have DQd everyone, everyone would have been left on the track.
It has been stated that Tony made decisions and it seemed like possibly while this was happening or soon after. I thought he was at another track,, so was it actually all star staff making the decision? He doesnt seem to be the guy who runs everything he owns. I have heard him say that he trusts his people to run things. Curious to know how hands on he is for things like this.
Anyone know?
Even though I may not know you, I
care what most of you think!

He was on track at the time, so he probably didn't have a complete idea what was going on. I like to think he probably wouldn't have been cool with it, he's a business man after all -- a successful one at that. He did an interview with Sprint Car Unlimited and talked about how they are making some changes to make sure this never happens again, and he paid the drivers that were affected (normally no pay when DQed) so obviously he does not think the ASCOC was fully in the right, and either way probably understands that doing this will cost them fans (and drivers) in the long run. He did say he was going to call each of the drivers personally as well.

As far as I know, Smoke was just another racer on Sunday and the call was from the All Star Race Director and officials.....he just had to deal with all the aftermath.

So Im sure when Tony talks to the teams and, he will, it will be mended. And youll see these teams at All Star races. Wonder if some of these fans will do the same? Or are these fans perfect and have never made mistakes?

We will see, I suggest they reach out to not just the drivers affected at BAPS as well. Obviously they aren't making many friends at any of the PA tracks. If some changes are made I will go to an ASCOC race again for sure, I was a HUGE fan of the ASCOC and have said many times on here that I preferred them to the Outlaws. Maybe that is why I'm so upset about it because I had such a high opinion of them previously and had talked the All Stars up to a bunch of people.
