Looks brutal right now from the weather sources I scanned. The next two nights look great, wonder if this will have any say in a cancellation for tonight? Thoughts, updates most welcome....

If it does rainout, maybe they'll have a doubleheader on Saturday, like what happened last year.

I’m seeing the rain dying off at around 1-2pm then picking up around 10ish.

That was a good race. Sweet tonight put everyone on notice for the weekend. Track was good no rubber down issues. Man id
love to see that track dry slick just once.

Minor nit, what’s up with the ridiculous average speeds announced last night? I thought I heard Johnny say average speeds of 124 mph or something like that. The track measurements must be off.

Heavy track, perfect conditions and they were flying. It's measued out at .458 or something close to that and they were running 12's in qualifying....

It's a 4/10ths and at 12.7 seconds thats about 113mph.
Average speeds of 124 mph or whatever was mentioned last night are ridiculous.
Like I said, minor nit, the place is great and the racing is nearly as good as Knoxville.

It was announced at somewhere near the number I posted, NOT a 4/10ths, hence the faster numbers, I won't use the obvious easy set up about a minor nit-wit, but I could of....

I determine track size by using Google maps satellite view and the "measure distance tool" to measure the track in the center of the race surface. I do it three times, then take the average. Unfortunately, Google's satellite view of Jackson Motorplex still shows the old half mile track (which I measured at .520 in the center), so I'm esimating the new location of turns 3&4. I "adjusted" today, and still came up with .410 mile for the new configuration. So we're still looking at speeds close to 120mph. Speaking to drivers in the pits today, most agreed Jackson in the 12 second bracket is still one of the fastest tracks we visit all season long.

It’s definitely fast, just not 10 mph faster than Knoxville which is what 124 mph average would imply. Thanks for the reply, you’re the man.
