This is different.  They are already separating entries by qualifying nights.  In previous years we didn't see which night the teams were assigned to until maybe a week out from the first night of the Nationals.

And Schatz isn't entered yet (as of 7-17-18 at 1:30pm) so there is hope for a new winner!!!!

I think they've always released it like this......Wednesday/Thursday. Drivers can request which night they prefer, but Knoxville Raceway reserves the option of moving drivers from one night to another to best even out the field.

I could be wrong, but this close out to the Nats it seems like the driver list has always been much larger.  What's up?  Less cars this year maybe?  Or will they all come in late with the registrations?  Its at like 40 right now.  Will we get the typical 90 cars?  100 cars?

No.  This is about the same as every year.   It will begin to climb rapidly in the next 2 weeks.  Everything is pretty much right on schedule.

I predict 105-115 cars

I agree with 'The Vision'. There is usually a running list until they split them into separate nights about a week prior to the Nats.

The Vision is right, the split usually happens when the count is between 90-100.

invariably 2 things happen in the lead up to the nats. 1) people wonder why the entry count is so low and some guy  says they’ll be likely to get 80 cars at the rate they’re going (they always get to 100 or so) and 2) people will claim how much better Thursday’s lineup is when the winner always come from Wednesday.

I think up until about last year (or even 2 years ago) they didn't announce the Wed/Thurs split on the website until about a few days before.  I am pretty sure they were a little earlier the last year or two but only a week or so out.

I could be wrong, but that is what my memory says.

Wish DraftKings would have a section for sprint cars. Sick of trying to pick golfers and make a couple bucks

With all the consternation over car counts, here's an update.   24 cars registered for Wednesday including Kasey Kahne & Kyle Larson.  25 cars set for Thursday.  Every year starting in July, I have monitored the pre-registered cars.  Last year was the first time they had already determined qualifying nights prior to the week of the event.  This is the earliest they have started to separate more than two weeks out.

Perhaps knowing this early that Kyle and Kasey are on Wed sells a few more tickets?

Good point, that may be why they did it.

63 cars as of this morning.  Growing quickly.  Still no Donny.  Maybe he will just skip this year and enjoy from the stands?  Smile

It has been hovering around 100 the last few years, give or take a few.  I bet it is right around there again.  I wish it would get upwards of 110+ so we might see a Last Chance Race on qualifying nights.
