Team Wright-One, Bush did indeed use evidence, which turned out to be false that top al quaeda officials met with Saddam Hussein not long before 9-11 in his presentation to Congress to convince them to go to war. I believe the information was said to have come from a British source to one of Bush's officials. That British source later said that that information never came from them at all.
|
while bush may have stated that al qaeda possibly had met with iraqi officials, it was never said there was a direct connection between 911 and iraq, and the reason that iraq had anything to to with 911 was never cited as a reason for invasion. our government was looking to see if saddam had any ties to al qaeda in any way, or was intending to create ties. it has been shown that there had been top al qaeda in iraq, but for what reason no one could ever validate.
i am not trying to defend bush in every way. just noting that some of the things that are said by his detractors can be invalidated and disputed if not out right overturned with a little investigation or having a little more than a talking points knowlage of things. i do not have all the info or knowlage myself, but i have been able to pick up what i have learned by getting info from multiple sources.
on a side note. last week i believe i heard that one of the major news network anchors stated there was "no news from iraq tonight. no explosions, no shootings, no one killed." that shows what the president is up against, when some folks think that the only thing that is news worthy is explosions, shootings and deaths. and the lack of that, after all there has been, is not news at all or worth reporting on.

Does it even matter at this point? We need to honor the sacrifices of our brave warriors (and their families) and let not their lives be lost in vain!
We tried the MOABs...no luck, now we need to drop the MFOAB (Mother F-er Of All Bombs) and when Baghdad quits glowing in the dark make Iraq our 51st state.
Crude oil is currently at ~$93.00 per barrel!!!

and he appeals to 2% of the republican base...better make the change to 3rd party candidate, the liberatarians need one.
swear all you want, he is a magnet for the politically lost.
|
If Ron Paul is a magnet for the "politically lost," please tell me, BRR, which Republican candidate most closely agrees with the tenets of the Republican party? If your statement is to be believed, it appears that the Republican "base" has forgotten what it means to be a Republican.

That is exactly it. The Republican party has totally lost it's way. After being the party of the future they went and aligned with the religious right, big money, and anyone else that would help them win more seats. They forgot about what they originally stood for. Less government in peoples lives.
And before any of you jump me for slamming the repubs I also think the Democrats are so f'd up that they have forgotten what they used to stand for and have completely lost their way.

the democrats are imbiciles who are addicited to out-promising each other. Hilree actually said - " I have thousands of ideas, the problem is the country cant't afford them" - stunning admission!
Edwards is now offering free college educations - he's a multi-millionaire...why doesn't he pay for them himself?
My interests line u p with Hunter has to say for the most part, then the other candidates file in after that.

Don't you think lumping all Democrats into one bunch is a little narrow minded?

just the opposite...i have been watching these vermin for decades and know all too well what idiots like Pelosi, Kennedy, Dick Turban Durbin, John Murtha have on their political resumes.
however, you might be a new comer with all kinds of green ideas about how things actually get done in the world - so by all mean, co-mingle the ideals of your new hero Ron Paul with these seasoned leftists and PROVE what i posted earlier in this thread.
show me a third party advocate and i will show you the politically lost who will eventually admit they are a disenfrachised democrat - funny how it works out that way.

Thanks. You proved my point.
I'll go ahead and choose the best candidate irregardless of what party they belong to and you go ahead and keep pulling the party line.

I don't think dropping the "mf of all bombs" is the answer at all. I think the very nature of the conflicts we are in prevents us from winning. The only way to win in these type of conflicts is for the invading country to eventually perpetrate a peace throughout the country. We had this shot after we toppled the regime but our government was too busy handin out contracts and building their worldwide monopolies to do anything to help the Iraqi people - which coincidentally - helps american people as well as the troops too.
If the troops are to truly be supported by arm chair patriots...........just leaving may not be the answer. But at the very least there has to be a plan. The only plan in place to is to use troops to protect the hijacking of another countries resources.......and to provide a base to start another unwinnable war. We dont lose anything because of our troops - if it was in their hands we would probably never lose. But those with the sole interest of money are calling the shots and making the decisions.
We lose because of our president, vice president, penatgon, state department, the list could go on and on. But those ultimately responsible are american citizens.......for being stupid enough to elect completely incompetent people to powerful positions and not hold them acountable or what basically amounts to fraud. And letting the president use terrorism as an excuse to turn the presidency into a dictatorship - that list could on and on as well. Currently Americans are complacent at best. A nation full of "Brownie's". But in the past when Americans faced adverisity they came through. Hopefully history does repeat itself.............

DonnM38 - you keep tap dancing and all that proves is that you are a dancer...i took the online survey from the link posted above and gave you the honest results. maybe your mind is already programmed and you don't need to take the survey, or maybe you did and my observation was dead on and now you are just too stubborn to admit it?

That's all right. I would rather not make my choice based off an online "quiz". It's too early for me to decide who I am going to cast my vote for. I know what my core values are and that's what I'll base my vote off of when the time is right.

same here DonnM38 - i took the quiz to see what citeria they were using to rate the candidates because i have been following some of the debates but think it is ridiculous that all the primaries are being reshuffled on the calendar. dead last on my list was hilree at a score of 7!
maybe she fared better on your list and you just don't want to post it? hhahahaha
by election time Ron Paul will either be out of the race or on the Liberatarian ticket - which would maybe be the best thing for both of them.

I agree with you yet again BRR. Why is Ron Paul even running on a republican platform? The vast majority of his views are at odds with the rep. party in general. I also think the vast majority of his followers are probably not republican (although many are in fact republican). He just sounds so much more like an independant. I don;t know every single one of his views right off hand - but what views does he have that are conservative?
Aside from McCain and Guiliani - I find I agree with different views of candidates from both sides........I'm more concerned about which will back up what they believe when they enter the White House. I don't think our current president backed up much at all. The tune he whistled in 2000 was wayyyy different from what went down. I'm discouraged for the country on how different the 2 parties are. I mean it's really gettin to a dangerous point. neither side can even agree on what the real issues are. you watch a convention or debate from both parties and they don't even ask the same questions. It;s not just 2 different views..........they are literally worlds apart. Yes I do find fault with those who profit off that...............It's not good for the country to be this split - differences are good - but a general hatred is growing between the 2. As if no one is even thinkin about what this kind of stuff COULD lead too. This is where I get critical of Bush. When he's rambling on like he always does it;s very obvious he is only speaking to those who are 100% behind him......and its kinda like he looks at those with doubt as "those other people". And when there were always very smart people like Rove around - you always knew it was on purpose. That in its own nature was meant to divide the country.....at a time when it needs to be unified. That is what I thought a while back - and it's just gotten worse and worse. I hope we elect a president who serves all the people instead of just those who voted for him or are affiliated with his party or maybe more so contributed to his campaign........

Apparently I should vote for Dennis Kucinch-45, then edwards at 43, the Hillary and Obama at 41. I really don't think the line-item veto is important. They tried that already, but it was declared unconstitutional by the supreme court in Clinton v. City of New York

Hey, it was only a 45. Apparently I don't really agree with any of them on a lot of things. I was against kucinich on Iraq and the death penalty.

no big deal, at least you had the balls to put up the results!
this site really only asks general questions and you go from there, as the campaign drags on, i am sure the press will spread around enough crap to make everybody completely sick of the process one minute before they enter the voting booth.
