Lincoln Speedway should change their nsme to Williams Grove South.  I was in the parking lot this afternoon and there are no soft spots or moisture.  Must have been record burger says last Sunday that influenced this call.  Lincoln's get the show in ship appears to have set sail.

I'm not ready to write them off yet and honestly, I wasn't actually there to see the grounds myself like you were but I too was shocked when they moved it to Sunday because looking at the forecast, today still seems like the most likely day. I was skeptical as to how soft the lots actually were as well. I had a feeling they wouldn't be terrible. I'm sure they have their reasons but I'm really hoping they don't go the route of Williams Grove and Port Royal and cancel every time a bird shits on the frontstretch.

That shit is annoying. I have a stadium chair but there's some places I just won't take it. I've never sat in the wooden bleachers at Lincoln but it looks way too tight for stadium chairs. Some people just don't have any common sense or sense of common courtesy. Some ignorant dipshit thought he was gonna use one of those along with my knees as a back rest at Williams Grove last year. Let's just say he was a little bit displeased with my reaction.

So wait, what other track north of Georgia has any shows on their schedule, much less in the books yet... Oh right that's a big fat 0.  They postponed two days early probably because their already scheduled rain date was going to be 12-15 degrees warmer then  the date the race was scheduled.   God forbid they take advantage of a day that more people would be willing to come out for.  It's not like they are stealing someone else's date or running late so you can't get to work on Monday if you go.  People love to complain about everything.

Williams Grove AND Port Royal?  I really hope you're kidding about that.  You must not have sat around in the iffy weather the past few years when they gave it every  chance even when some fans and some teams wish they wouldn't have waited and raced.  As in PA Speedweek just the other year for one. Maybe you are lost on the wrong end of Route 35.

Lincoln Speedway postponed yesterday 4 hours before the gates opened, the following is their update.

LINCOLN PUSHES SATURDAY MARCH 5TH SHOW TO NEXT DAY MARCH 6TH
ABBOTTSTOWN, PA 3/5/2016 - With the softening of parking lots and spectator areas following a mid-week snow/rain event, Lincoln Speedway promoters have decided to take advantage of the scheduled rain date to the following day, Sunday, March 6th and delay the 2nd event of 2016 by 24 hours. The hope is that the additional time will allow spectator areas and parking lots be safer and make the day more enjoyable for those planning to attend. Racing action will get underway at 2 PM with gates opening at noon.

Lincoln WAS well known for TRYING HARD to get the show in.  I simply stated I was at the track during the scheduled race time and the parking lot was in great shape for this time of year.  I've been in the lot when it was HORRIBLE but they still made successful efforts to race.

Sorry...one day early, still a lot longer than 4 hours.  I do know I saw it in three or four places before yesterday.

If you're talking about the several times they were in a holding pattern for fair races at Port Royal, I beg to differ. That was more about getting a bunch of race fans there to spend money at the fair for a few hours so that at least the fair was making money. They knew hardly anyone would turn out for the fair in the rain. Most people are smart enough to stay home in such conditions but they know race fans will show up no matter how hopeless it is as long as the proverbial green lights are on.

Is there a secret decoder ring for where to check for updates?  Because your suposed Friday update isn't on the OFFICIAL lincolnspeedway.com website.  Why would I check anywhere else?  Do you need to check 3 places to ensure all 3 have the same information.  Not that the time frame matter much when the issues is Saturday was acceptable conditions to race.

I said Soeedweek, not Fair week. And again, that was just one instance. They, like Lincoln, do not cancel unless they are absolutely positive there is no way they can race.

The grove used to attempt to race on Sunday's early in the season, but gave up after support mirrored the crappy razing.

for some reason people do not mind a crappy day race at Lincoln, perhaps because the food is better?

Id rather attend day races on Sunday and have Saturday for other duties...see you fellas in a few hours.

and to the stadium seat guys, I'm trying to get there early to put a buffer blanket down...

Lincoln 1845 ft/.35 mile T1=118MPH
Eldora 2287 ft/.43mile T3=135MPH
Port 2716 ft/.51 mile T3=TBD
Grove 2792 ft/.53 mile T3=135MPH
Selinsgrove 2847 ft/.54 mile T1=136MPH

They usually weren't the greatest races but I miss the hell out of the Sunday afternoon early season shows at Williams Grove. I really wish they'd start doing them again.

And, while we're at it/dreaming, throw-in Saturday afternoons at Port, too

If I lived in the in the middle/between Port and Lincoln, I'd have to flip a coin.

Apple and orange - but both great!

Agreed. Like I said in the other thread, we're damn lucky. I'm hoping we get to do the Lincoln/Port Royal double next week. That's gonna be great
