Kenseth was coming for the 22 that whole race and it seemed pretty clear the Penske guys knew this (they even said that in an interview). The 2 made sure Kenseth was not going to get to the back of the 22, I do not understand why this isn't talked about. Kenseth was going to do it "right" and move the 22 into the wall for the lead (slight speculation) and that would have been the end of it. NASCAR would have had nothing to say, since that type of behavior was "justified" over the last couple of years. Matt wasn't given that opportunity, so he made his own. Was it right, probably not, but he got his point across, you want to continue to screw with me, I will follow through and make it 10x harder for you. NASCAR missed the mark and will pay pretty dearly. This week those that don't normally tune in will watch, be treated to a vanilla race where what good hard racing could be, won't because the drivers will be afraid of Big Daddy NASCAR and those that tune in will never come back. Idiots.

Kenseth didn't get the opportunity to "move" the 22 because the other Penske car (2) wrecked Matt earlier.

I think NASCAR will generally look the other way when it involves contact for the win or the lead-two cars fighting for the same spot.  I think why this ruffled their feathers was the fact that no place was involved.  They were not racing for the same spot.  Either way--SPELL IT OUT IN THE RULES NASCAR!

Maddog--What the hell happened to our 'Hawks last night?  I started working on a project for work after they got the 5-2 lead thinking we had it in the bag.  I look up 30 minutes later and it's tied!  Is Duncan's absence going to screw us this year?  (I am going to watch Bickell play Saturday night in Rockford along with the coach Q- exiled Morin.  We will see if he has any fire or if he just hates it there!)

I was as disgusted as you.  I could only watch bits and pieces like you, and I thought it was in the bag.  Then 5-3, then 5-4.  I got busy and didn't see the end.  The sports page made me cringe when I read it this morning.  I am thinking this is going to be a tough year, figuring everyone out, and yes, Keith's absence hurts HUGE.  Best defenseman not only on your team, but the whole league is gone, so yeah.................

I think Jimmy Spencer once said that the Nascar rule bookis written in Pencil. They just erase rules whenever and make up new ones whenever they feel like it. The only reason this is an issue is that it affects their precious Chase. No place was involved with the Gordon/Bowyer incident and they advertised it the whole year for Phoenix races and the chase. They will use this incident as a promotional tool going forward as well to get any publicity. I like Nascar racing and always will and will not ever call it napcar or anyother names others call it but the sanctioning body itself is full of Morons. In the 90's you never had a chase, sometimes the championship was locked up at the end of the season but you still had fans in the stands and ratings were up and they did not compete directly with NFL and MLB playoffs. Now you have a playoff format to lift ratings and fans, champships battles are close fictatiously, and now your ratings are low stands are not full like they used to be, the racing sucks and most the drivers are spoiled kids who cry over everything.

Looked like to me the Hawks got a little flat footed after the 1st and took their foot off the gas. Defensemen were playing defensively instead of being involved in the offensive side of play, not to mention the forwards were not helping them out as much as too many pucks were not getting picked up off of rebounds from Crawford. Didn't see the final period but could not understand why Kane and Toews were not on the same line unless they were trying to experiment. But I'll also agree with Maddog, #1 reason they lost, Duncan Keith out.

Many people think NASCAR runs a race business.  Actually NASCAR is a "made for TV reality show that takes place at and on paved race tracks".  The main objective isn't good racing, the main objective is to generate large revenues using Race Cars as billboards.  Drama like the Kennseth penalties is just part of keeping people interested in the TV reality show.  Like most reality show it is partly scripted and partly made up as the show is broadcast.

I'm totally lost on this whole debacle. Apparently I'm missing something. If you watch the video, Logano passes Kenseth on the outside. Kenseth does come up, doesn't make contact, and then turns back down to start the entry for the turn. Logano then comes down for his entry into the turn and comes doan into Kenseth's right front, with his left rear. Granted, once Logano got into Kenseth, Kenseth didn't let up. Listen to Logano's spotter. He's even saying, "Still down there. Still down there. STILL DOWN THERE!!!" In my unbiased opinion (I don't like either one of them) it was more Logano's fault than Kenseth's. Looks to me like Kenseth got the shaft, big time.

Hey Sarge...   Don't forget that Kenseth was PUNTED OUT of even MAKING the Chase by Logano.  Every NASCAR offiial says that Kenseth took Logano out of a Chase race and that he wasn't even in the Chase.  Well thats why.......I always defended NASCAR on here and made fun of guys and their childish names, i.e. NASCRAP, NAPCAR.  I will not defend NASCAR anymore, but I still will not use the childish names.

NASCRAP  or NAPCAR is no worse than National association of STOCK car auto racing when NOTHING about the cars is STOCK.

It ain't racing.....it is NASCAR.   AKA  "motorsports based entertainment".

As much as they want to say they are "concerned" or "disappointed" about Kenseth's actions,  I gotta believe that NASCAR brass is loving it.   I don't think they can deny that this sort of thing is EXACTLY why the elimination style playoff format was created.  They may want to blur the lines or put a PR doublespeak spin on their feelings, but how can you come up with any other conclusion as to what would happen?

As far as Kenseth?    He suddenly has 6 more free days open on his calender during Western Wisconsin hunting season.   Sure he wishes that he could still be in the chase, but since the next three races are pretty much meaningless for him,  I bet he doesn't mind having the next two weekends free.

Enjoy the time off Matt and go get them in Homestead.    And if you gotta wreck Beavis or his team mate Butthead in Homestead to ensure they won't be champion.....don't hesitate to do it again.   (Bonus points if you can get your team mate in the 18 caught up in the same wreck)

It ain't racing.....it is NASCAR.   AKA  "motorsports based entertainment" is the best comment about NASCAR I've read in a long time.

NASCAR acts as if one car taking out another has no place in their "sport" yet many drivers (Stewart, Jr, Gordon) said that Logano reaped what he sowed. The problem starts with Logano blocking when he has the lead (remember Stewart wanting to bust his ass at Fontana two years ago?) but whining like a baby when he's blocked by Kenseth and instead of passing Matt as any good driver would do, he runs him over. Then, Logano gloats about it and offers no apology because he can't see that he did anything wrong. If Joey had to face Kenseth or Stewart on pit road, instead of hiding behind his crew or father, perhaps he'd drive with a little more respect than he does.

When asked about his thoughts on the Kenseth/Lagano soap opera by a fan on Twitter, Paul McMahan said "take the fenders off of them and they won't be so brave." Nuff said. #PaulsToTheWall
