No weight rule. Full containment seats not mandatory.
No engine rules.
Dish wing allowed.
100" x 13" wide RR, 12.5" wide LR.
Love engine and tire rule.
Don't like not having a weight rule for safety and making everyone buy dish wings unless SOD was already running them.

As long as I've known, you could either run dish wing without wicker bill or flat with wicker bill. So that rule is unchanged actually.

I listened to the interview on Winged Nation and I just don't see this working. The goal is to lower costs by making the motor not as much part of the equasion. Got it, understood.
Well, with no weight limit that balances out any lack of grip a tire might of induced (less mass is more easily propelled forward by fixed size of tire) and guys will start having to run the bigger motors alot with swiss cheesing the cars to be competitive. Granted I know in the interview they said they were going to scale cars for the sake of creating a database to see what the the trend is and if they need to do something. So to me in my line of reasoning they already see where this could head. If you are going to do something different, just nip it in the butt and put weight limits out there right from the start.
Additionally you can't ostracize yourself as a racer or a series and have folks basically building custom cars just for that series. Give them the ability to run other series and they might be more likely to join yours if they can come over and run competitively with what they have. 1475 lbs is what I'm thinking. The 360's and 305's already make this weight, and have the 410 guys if they want to join bolt it on.
Wings, You can't ostracise yourself. Allow the same dished or flattop wings for the 305/360 guys, but only flatops for the 410's. While you're not forcing people to purchase XYZ wings, they will feel they have to to be competitive.
Containment seats. This should be a requirement...... I think it's damned near manditory in just about every series in the country that has some tie to a national sanction. Because of the weight rule, the first thing these guys will ditch is the containment seats. I forget if it was Winged Nation or Penn Live but they had an interview with an older driver (I think it was Lance DeWease but don't quote me on that) where they were building seat bottoms out of PLASTIC to save weight prior to the institution of weight limits and containment seats...... We don't think we need that back in our sport.
Once you get into this and you see that after 10-12 races that 410's have a notable advantage, put more weight on them. To me that's the one way you can do this right.
This isn't rocket science, this type of handicapping has been done before and when successful it's always been weight.

Thanks. No big deal if they were already running dished wings then. Still should at least make a full containment seat mandatory if they are not going to have a weight rule. It weighs 10 lbs more to run one.

They already said they tested these tires at Eldora and a 410 was no advantage over a 360.

I can not imagine any of the car builders building light weight chassis for SOD..They are not that stupid with a possible law suite to follow. The 360 cars at Knoxville have to weigh 1500 with driver. We are still 25 lbs to heavy and we have some Ti. If we bought alot more Ti ,I doubt if we could take 15 more pounds off. It would take a real idiot to some how build a light frame with say 0.065 tubes and a real idiot to drive it. I do not think it will happen. If guys would get cars hooked up with shocks and T bars and not worry about a super light car things will work out better.

The first 410 weight rule was 1200lbs without the driver. So cars must have been weighing less than that at the time. Don Droud had added weight taped under the hood to make weight when he won the 1200lb nationals.
I'll bet your driver does not weigh 300lbs!

At the time of the weight limit rule I know of a pretty high profile car that said they were able to get the car down to 1095LBS, just the car. After weight rule they were filling TI brake pedals with lead and other components just to make weight.

That was pre chassis tubing thickness rules, full containment seats and raised blocks and big heads. Schatz was 40lbs overweight when he got beat by Pittman for the championship with all the fast times. They had to work hard to get down to 1400lbs with driver. I still see titanium on cars with 160 lb kids racing them. The weight rule should be a 2" taller and wider chassis with halo and safety bars. All the safety stuff; full containment seat, head and neck restraint, tethers, bullet proof torque ball. No titanium and a standard rear. People with money can have the advantage of placing ballast where they want it.

Of all the stupid shit I've heard i can't believe anyone rich or not would fill a titanium brake petal with lead rather than fill a come moly one with lead. If that really happened they should be euthanized and shot in the fucking face. Imo.

If it is so difficult to get down to 1400lbs with driver why are cars being DQed at the scales for being too light. I know 360 cars that add ballast to make weight. One trick was filling the front axle with water. Unsprung, non rotating weight. The best kind.

Because they have titanium everything and a light driver. That is one of the reasons Schatz lost so much weight. To be able to get down to 1400. Kinser has probably never been down to 1400 since the weight rule has been instituted.

I had one that was ti filled with lead. It was on a car that I bought. Also found lead in the lower frame rail.

I know it sounds stupid to fill a TI brake pedal with lead but when you have all TI brake pedals and no steel ones you use what you have. Kind of like people bolting on lead but using a TI fastener and jet nuts, you use what you have... If you have half the ammount of wins as this guy you would probably be in the sprint car hall of fame. Before you shoot anyone in the face/ spout off how dumb everyone else is, maybe you should do a bit of thinking.

Jump up & down on the front of the frame. What moves is riding on the bars, ie sprung weight. The axle does not move. It does not ride on the springs, they ride on it. The weight of the axle is supported only by the tires, it is not held up by the bars. Unsprung weight.
