so while being pushed to the scales he went through more than a foot of mud through the infield to the scales.
troy henning, the announcer says "looks like terry needs more weight!" now, that was hilarious...
Ascot was the greatest of all time..
West Capital wasn't half bad either..
Life is good...

Seen that a few times. One time a driver wins, drives through a bunch of mud on his way to victory lane. Next week, he wins again at a different track, not a drop of water in sight, let alone any mud. More than 50 pounds under weight.

Think they should be DQ'd when they do that. Seen Bloomquist do it a few years ago at Eldora. He gunned as he went through it as to get the mud up in there & I said as I seen him do it he should be DQ'd.

It's there call and if they come across at or above wieght they have done nothing wrong. With that being said its a Huge Gamble that has cost ( I will use Scott as an example because you did) Scott thousands and thousands of dollars doing this and pretty recent as well can't remeber the actual race but it was a big one. So like I said its a huge gamble let them take there chances it will more than likely bite them when it really counts.
p.s this has been going on since they first started mandating wieght requirments, all part of the game. It's just not worth chancing the risk for 90 some percent of drivers.

Bloomquist was 25 pounds light at the scale at the Dream this year. It cost him the win. As was stated before, drivers have been doing this forever. I think I recall Billy Pauch doing the same thing a time or two in a modified race when I was a kid.

Isn't the object for cars to meet minimum weight while racing, not because they picked up X amount of mud after the race.
Easy to police, instruct drivers to stay on track, if they intentionally try gain weight after race, DQ at discretion, pretty easy to wee when cars intenitonally run off the track. If it is a big problem, weigh cars before and after race too.
If u could win $20k by skirting the minimum weight, I think many of us would do it. Not blaming Tmac or others that do this, its the officials for allwoing this.

Should be no gamble if you know you are good enough to beat the best in the biz then you're car should weigh 10 lbs over limit WITHOUT FLUIDS. You cut it you chance it, chance & lose, is it really worth the money you lost ?
Seem to remember Kenny Jacobs losing the 1200# nationals for this very reason.

Gosh, maybe they should have to wash the cars before they scale them post race.
I doubt you can gain much weight on a sprint car by driving through a mud puddle. Not many places for it to stick, like having the tires throw it up to stick under the body of a dirt taxi cab.

alot of people that go threw the mud are actually doing what you said aswell. But every scale is different and you go by there scale so if you are close on weight you would still do this just to be safe.
this part not directed towards you, There are enough discretion calls in racing the way it is, they need to stay away from discretion call period!! Most the time those call are wrong! Besides, all he has to say is he was coolong of his tires before they glazed, just another reason the discretion call will never work for this type of situation. To many other reasons the driver could argue.
why do people have a problem with this anyway? If they are light at the start and are banking on there being mud at the track for extra weight, they will get bit sooner than later and more than likely it will be at a time they will forever wish they hadn't.
