Saturday night at TMS I spoke with a car owner that told me that the aluminum block deal was definatly a no go with the ASCS for next year. He said that their was a press release, however I haven't located any literature on it as of yet. Anyone hear anything further on this topic.

It's on their website if you want to look for it. No aluminum blocks next year. That's a good thing in my opinion. The big question now is will NSL go to the gasket and ASCS not. That would kill running the same motor in both. I'm not sure what the answer really is but anything that limits the gains that's been had the last couple years is good for me. Maybe smaller stacks would do the trick I don't now. And if they end up different which way will Knoxville, LIttle Rock and the other series that follow the same rules go? It's going to be interesting.

ASCS has lost all credibility! Their power and influence has been greatly diminished.
Years of failed leadership has taken its toll. What started off as a forward-thinking, proactive organization has now been reduced to a reactive, selfish group of clowns.
Tracks and race teams are looking for alternatives, e.g. the 305.

I hope they forget about the gasket deal it is never a good idea to change the air flow into a motor. I talked to a few engine
builders they all say it will kill horsepower, the amounts change from builder to builder from 25 to 100 hp depending on
how good the engine is to start with. The bad part is it will do the reverse of what they think, it will hurt a lower hp engine
more than a higher one so if they are looking to try to make them the same they are going the wrong direction.
I have always thought that promoters make some of the rules to get the cars or motors stuck in rules so that they can
only run with that series. Most of the time it's not a good idea to put yourself on an island where it's hard for anybody
else to come and play.

I'm for both series running the same stuff, no one likes to go to a sprint car show and see 18 cars. The car counts are suffering enough as it is. At TMS on Saturday there were 33 360's, but there were notable drivers missing Sam Hafertepe Jr, and Jeff Swindell, as well as others. I'm not here to bash on anyone, but tech is definatly needed in any series to keep its integrity, and at TMS the winner was checked, (I didn't witness it, but it was on the lineup board for the A). It would be nice if they did run the same stuff, what an event it would be ASCS vs. NSL

ASCS Aluminum Blocks have gone the way of the dodo bird, carrier pigeons, and legal ASCS heads.
