7th Annual US National Dirt Track Championships @ Texas Motor Speedway Dirt Track, 9/11-12/15

Ft. Worth, TX.,(Sept. 11Th, 2015) As the local tracks points seasons come to an end, Texas Motor Speedway Dirt Track hosted the 7th version of the US National Dirt Track Championships. This years event is highlighted by the Lucas Oil ASCS Sprint Car Series in a combined National and Red River Region race on Saturday night.
Included on the slate are the Limited Modifieds with over 120 drivers(four states) from across the mid-south signed in for battle on the 4/10 mile, semi-banked, dirt oval. Making their first USNDTC appearance are the Factory Stocks, a hybrid Street Stock on asphalt pull offs(slicks). A big field of 80 Factory Stocks, also from four states, signed in making nearly 200 cars in action, along with ASCS Sprint Car practice.
The Limited Modifieds and Factory Stocks would qualify through heats, taking the top 16 in passing points, then D, C and B-mains to fill the remaining spots in the A-qualifier that would lock in seven drivers for tomorrow nights big A-main, Championship races. In the Limited Modified it was tough to crack the starting line up, with D and C-mains having two or three past champions that failed to qualify.
Hebert Aces A-Qualifier in Limited Modifieds.
Shane Hebert(Lafayette, La.) had his car dialed in as he led every circuit of the 15-lap A-qualifier. Hebert, a past winner in a spring race SUPR Late Model race(2013) fought off Justin Nabors at the start, then went to pull away from the pack at the finish for the victory.
Hebert and Justin Nabors stayed side by side until Hebert, from the outside, got the top spot coming off turn 4 to secure the position. Nabors fell in line second trailed by Chris Dawson, Rodney White and Eddie Martin side by side with Jeffrey Abbey for fifth. JJ Jennings went around coming off turn 4, after clipping an infield tire, for a lap 3 caution.
Once back to green it was Martin, using the high side, and Tracy Denby sr. wheel to wheel for sixth. John Whittington joined that scrap going three wide on lap 5 until a spin in turn 2 brought a yellow out. The top five stayed single file as green waved again, while Martin, charging on the top again getting by Abbey for sixth.
Martin then picked off White for fifth on lap 7 and brought Abbey along by Whittington for fourth and fifth, respectively. That battle continued to the end, while Hebert was checking out from Nabors and Dawson at halfway. Behind them JC Howell was holding down the seventh spot as White and Denby sr. went at it for eighth.
With two laps to go, Hebert had increased his margin to nearly a full straightaway over Nabors, who had Dawson on his tail. Abbey, Whittington and Martin were still swapping spots as the white waved. Hebert easily cruised to the victory in his Allgayer Inc., Showtime Signs, Big Red Wrecker, Advanced Motorsports, Express Chassis.
“We've been working on this car all year,” said Hebert. “I think we've finally got a good set up on it now. I'm hoping the track stays pretty like tonight so we can put on a show for the fans.”

Good Night for Day in Factory Stock A
Greenville's Jimmy Day grabbed the first ever Factory Stock A-qualifier ensuring himself a spot in Saturday nights Championship events. Day, doing double duty in Limited Modifieds as well, got the lead early in the 15-lapper. Doug Vick jr. kept the pressure on Day throughout the race getting along side on the final lap, but Day was able to hold him off for the win.
As the 24-car Factory Stock took the green J. Day jumped out front with Tony Marinelli in pursuit. Behind the lead duo Bo Day, Vick and Jeff Lewis were three wide for third. Jason Gore joined that fight a lap later and was along side B. Day for fifth.
Marinelli's top run ended early when he made contact with an infield tire in turn 2 breaking the front suspension. This put Vick on J. Day's tail for the restart and Vick quickly looked up top, but fell back in line. Chase Breese and Miranda Carver made contact while battling for tenth sending M. Carver around and Breese to the pits with a black flag.
On the restart, Vick again gave J. Day a look high while Ronnie Welborn and Bryan Mewborn got by Justin Whitehead for sixth and seventh. Dan Meyer would get the final transfer spot as the laps wound down.
Up front Vick was still giving the high groove a run and was door to door with J. Day as the white flag waved. J. Day, in the Quality Intermodal Delivery Service, Jds Garage, Ace Auto Sales, Ratchet Chassis, was able to hold steady on the bottom and hang on to the top spot at the checkers.
