My assumption is that they are unable or unwilling to take a mid-week race date. I know Ventura would have mucho trouble getting that by the fair board.

The fact that the race track where 30% of the field ONLY races at, is not on the schedule for California Sprint Week is quite odd to me. I assume it's all down to who they could get to agree to put their money on the line for a mid-week show.

Mid week races in Southern California are pretty much not going to happen. Perhaps something on a three day weekend would work. But getting the promoters to agree as to who gets the non Saturday night dates is all but impossible.

The "if only" factor comes alive on this. What if Irwindale had been dirt. It would be easier to promote a Friday night event there.  About an hour closer to the center of metropolitan Los Angeles. You have a convergance of three freeways.

Originally the Agajanians wanted to build on the land that Auto Club Speedway is at. But the EPA rules made it too expensive.

Sorry fellows, but the Lotto gods haven't smiled upon me so that I could build a track for you to race on. Got a lovely place to build it too. The southwest corner of Slover Ave. at South Pepper Ave. in Colton. It is just off the 10 freeway with railroad tracks to the north and a cement plant to the east.

was just passing through and just couldn't help myself Rob, but yes. LOL

It was a good question Rob but we all knew the answer would be telling about the state of affairs of non wing traditional Sprint Car racing in S Cali.

One good thing about most of the tracks over this way, it doesn't cost as nearly as much money, just to open the gates.

Speed week was fun,but it's really sad that car counts were so low.

Calistoga had a good start and with no crashes on sunday with 24 sprints and 18 midgets.

Petaluma was well you watch the infield races and tell me. still 24 sprints.

Chico had the big numbers 28&28 then,

handford 19 ?

santa maria 17 and 13 man what a drop off,and we drove all over the state for this fanalie?

Congrat's to Ryan for winning it all hope you go spank them down at Perris at the ovals.

It would be great to get a sponsor to fund this week and get it pumped up.

Run midgets and sprints only no super stocks,mods,600 's, 4 bangers ect.

Oh and USAC STOP RUNNING SHOWS AGINST CALISTOGA LABOR DAY and CALIFORNIA SPEED WEEK!!!

Can't you see drivers and car owners want to support this but you have them spliting up all over the states BS.

California seems to be dark every year for your speed week and are drivers come and support it.

Bring the champ cars out to Calistoga triple crown before the 4 crown nationals.

I would have rather started home at 8 on saturday then watch 3 cars run a 20 lapper, then 4 cars run a 20,then 7 cars run it's just not fun to wait ,and then get out at 9:30.

Let's see now who would make a good sponsor for a traveling road show. A few come to mind:

1. Coffee shop chains (Denny's, Carrows, IHOP, Appleby's)

2. Fast food chains: (In & Out, Jack in the Box, Taco Bell, Del Taco) All with solid California connections.

3. Motel chains

4. Gas station chains

These are all places that the traveling teams frequent while on a tour like this.

Oh yeah their are those auto parts and trailer supply places too.
