Does anyone have information on the motor Moro was testing in the 305's at Knoxville on Saturday? Granted Moro is an experienced driver with probably a good setup but the car did not look slow when compared to other cars in the 305's. I was wondering what the costs were, engine specs, and what the big idea or picture was with this motor in the future. Spec motor 305s at Knxoville? Statewide? Nationwide? or even who is testing with the program. Interesting idea since the disparity between the 305 motors seem to be so great when compared to the 410's and 360's.

Believe its his Des Moines motor. IMCA Racesaver engine. Obviously like you said he's much more experienced than a majority of that class.

Thanks for the info. Wonder now why they couldnt score him then? Unless he did something to the motor to make it more competitive at Knoxville. I figured the under powered IMCA 305 would be legal at Knoxville but no one would run it because it typically is under powered when compared to the top Knoxville 305 motors. Thats a little less exciting since its IMCA. I was hoping for a decent program who tech engines hard and keep the 305 class under control.

It wasnt his racesaver engine. I dont remember all the specifics, but I know it was a carburated 350 of some sort. Kind of like the crate engines that the modifieds use etc. I spoke to one of the competitors in the 305 class about it Saturday night, but I am not sure of their plans with this moving forward.

Would certainly be nice if Knoxville, Burlington and the State Fair Grounds could come to an agreement on they're 305 rules so a driver could run all 3 tracks, and maybe more.

Unfortunely however the rumors around the fairgrounds track future are still floating around - reshaping it and making it smaller to completele removing it and making it into a parking lot, hell they get $10 a car and no maintance expencies.

The State Fair Secretary has a track record of not liking racing. I know this year at the Fair (because I heard him say it) the day of the Tractor Pulls the promotor and the head of the tracks maintance wanted to cancel because of track conditions but the secretary told them "NO - I'll lose to much money!!". And believe it or not those farmers pack the stands.

I believe the motor was done by Don Blackshear of Blackshear Racing Engines in Hermitage, PA.

I've got news for you....it isn't farmers packing the stands at tractor pulls!
