Baylog won. Can't sniff the podium in the other series he's trying, so he has to come to the IRA to get gas money.

Big Daddy clearly has no clue.  He drove it from a 10th starting spot in Jackson to the lead in 9 laps and basically led the rest of the race until a late caution coming to the white.  With a right rear going down, he was a sitting duck, but had it stayed green, he would have had the top spot on the podium and an additional 10k in the bank.  Oh and who did he have to pass in those 9 laps to take the lead?  Whitney, Reutzel, Tatnell, Lasoski (wrecked), Brown, Henderson, Dobmier, Kaeding, and McCarl.  I think he is doing just fine in that other series and will probably have a few wins by the end of the season.

I agree dzus. He will win an NSL race before the season is done.  Had an impressive run Thursday night from 12th to 6th on one of the most unique tracks around. Balog is a darn good racer.

All the rest of the names you listed were all smart enough to run a slower pace to make their tires last. Last time I checked doesn't matter how many laps you lead if you dont win.

Too far to for an IRA race.  I'll go for Richert Memorial in September.  That's not really an IRA race.

Great night of racing last night at CLS.  Andy Jones won the Mod Feature, Brent Larson in the Late Models and Bill Balog in the IRA Sprints.  Andy won the Mod race with a broken ball joint on the left front so that was something to watch.  CLS Late Models are always a blast to watch and their Feature was a good one as well.  In the Sprints Balog was 1st, Schmidt 2nd, and Travis quietly worked his way up to third.  It was a good night of racing.  The only downside was that 2" of rain and new clay added a couple weeks ago required more than the usual number of blading sessions.  It was blast taking pics at the Triple, got some good shots so now all I have to do is find time to upload them.  Probably won't be getting to that for a few days.  Yard work, music to mix and a ton of other sfuff going on.  wink

Looking forward to getting back to Cedar Lake in July for the 3 day 360 sprint and WoO shows. It's been about 6 years since my last visit.

Son-in-law's band is opening for Alien Ant Farm that Friday so we'll be at the gig and won't see the UMSS.  Saturday may end up being a recovery day because most of the family is coming to the gig.  Could end up being a Sunday only show for me.  Took Monday off so I can stay late after the races Sunday night and make a big night of it.  Can spend Monday editing pics and catching up with the yard.  Busy time of the year.

Bingo. Jackson Speedway is one of the most abrassive surfaces I personally have ever witnessed. Therefore, tire preservation is and always has been the name of the game there. Especially for the 410's with the soft tires, 360's with a hoosier medium will typically make it through the feature. I'm sure Balog knows this as he has raced there many times so this isn't a knock on him. He's really good and will continue to prove it. I'm also sure it's extremely hard to make your mind tell your foot to lighten up some.

I applaud TQ for what he has done, and continues to do for sprint car racing and Jackson Speedway. Having said that, I was very curious to see how the track would hold up after the renovations/reconfiguration. My biggest question when I heard about the work being done was wether or not something was done with the actual surface/dirt, other than widening. Jackson has notoriously rubbered down and turned into a parade, I was hoping this problem was remedied but it doesn't seem to have been. I don't know what the answer is and I wish I did as that track is holding alot of potential. I hope TQ can figure something out but until then I'm fraid 410 features will continue to be snoozers.
