I know there's the LITTLE 500 but I want to go to something different. Could anyone give some ideas of where and what types of cars are running?

IRP has Silver Crown and some Formula Indy type cars during the day. Lincoln Park has a big non wing sprint show paying $2,500 to win (that is good money for non wing sprints) at night.
Little 500 is the best open wheel race of the year IMO, not sure why you wouldnt want to see that race.... and I am a 410, wing dirt fan.

The USAC Silver Crown feature at IRP is scheduled to start at 1:15 Saturday afternoon. That should make it real easy to make it to Lincoln Park in Putnamville Saturday night. It’s a quick 45 minute drive from IRP to Putnamville. The Putnamville sprint show is an MSCS sanctioned non-wing sprint car event. I would expect a number of USAC regulars in attendance. They should have a nice field for this one.
Another option Saturday night is Paragon Speedway which is also about 45 minutes from IRP. Paragon has a regular show with non-wing sprints as the headliner. Paragon’s a bit more “rustic” and their format a bit unique (every car runs a feature). It'll be Paragon's opener so it's difficult to say how many cars they'll get but most likely 30-40. Mostly low-buck veterans and rookies looking to gain some experience.
The full week of open wheel dirt track racing around Indy starts Wednesday night at Terre Haute (USAC Sprints), Thursday night at the Indy Fairgrounds (USAC Silver Crown) and Friday night at Bloomington (MSCS Sprints/Josh Burton Memorial). Sunday night, after the 500, Kokomo Speedway and Tri-State Speedway in Haubstadt both have non-wing sprint car options. The WoO will be at Lawrenceburg Monday night.

Im thinking that Saturday night race at Lincoln Park Speedway is where Im going.
But now the question is will looking at the field on Friday night at Bloomington help to see who will be racing on Saturday night?

Yeah, it'll be pretty much the same field at Bloomington as Putnamville give or take a few. I would expect Darland, Stanbrough, Ballou, Short, Cummins, and Stockon will be at both Bloomington and Putnamville. Last year for this show Putnamville had 39 cars.

Current plans call for a return to the Little 500 for the first time in 40 years. Two nights of racing before the Little 500 and two nights of racing after the Little 500 should take care of the something different part. And the Indy Fairgrounds, Plymouth, Kokomo and Lawrenceburg fit nicely.
