I'm sure most of the sprint car drivers know about Donnie Hart, as he is a superfan of almost all race car drivers at Ventura.

Some of the racers may not know, Donnie lost his Mom last year (sudden illness).  If there is an event shirt, I was thinking I could buy one, and all the drivers could sign it at the drivers meeting.  Maybe a few drivers could donate their own shirt to Donnie, ie I think some of his favorites are Troy, Cory, Spencer, Damion (not sure about him  wink  , Gaunt although I never have heard a bad word from Donnie about any driver  Smile

Hope I'm not asking for too much, but if every driver was able to give  a $1 (or more) Donnie could take out his new care giver, Suzann for a nice meal.   Donnie told me this week, he is looking for work now

In case anyone doesn't know who Donnie is, his family was quite prominent at Ventura and any 1/4 midget track in America, many of their drivers have raced with CRA, Mark and Dennis Hart are family.   I never raced for the Hart's, but I always thought Donnie was my biggest fan in 1/4 midgets.

I don't go into the pits, but hoping someone could get the shirt signed at drivers meeting, and maybe a driver (Troy or Cory) could give it to Donnie during the evening.

Thanks ahead of time, as I know racers are a generous bunch.  I hadn't kept in touch as much as I should have, I think Donnie goes to more races than I do, as Jim Naylor take care of him for the season  Smile.  It nice to know Donnie is in good hands from his friends at the track.

Great idea!  I haven't seen Donnie in years, but as you mentioned, the Hart family was always a huge part of the Quarter Midget family back when I raced in the late '70s through the mid '80s.  I would be happy to pitch in...either to upgrade to a hoodie (more room for signatures on the sleeves) or for the dinner idea.  My son has a Quarter Midget race at Orange Show tomorrow (if the rain hasn't washed our pits away), so I most likely won't be at the race, but if there is a PayPal account you have open let us know.

Tks Doug

(I wonder if we crossed paths in 1/4 midgets, I raced from 75to 79 (valley and pomona home tracks)?

Oh, my name is Doug too, Doug Lierle.

Hope you get your son's race in, no paypal account.   Just something small to give back to the Hart family.  Good idea about hoodie, I am sure I can find Troy or Cory to get the drivers to sign.  Sometimes if you help too much officially, it causes more problems for the family, but sure a little cash or gift card couldn't hurt?

Getting excited for the races, my gosh so many cars.   No rain so far in Thousand Oaks, I'm sure Jim will do his magic on the track, as welll as Scott on the mic

Hey Doug!  Yes, I totally remember racing with during the end of your career.  I started in 1977 and ran Western States sanctioned races at PVQMRA and the '79 Grands in Denver (of course I was only 8 years old then and ran Jr. Stock Suspended).   Never knew you were the name behind the "jdfast" handle...small world.  Keep in touch.

thanks to Ricky Gaunt , Mr. Hansen , Troy and Big Mike for getting the shirt signed, I was not able to go into the pits, but I assume Donnie got his shirts, tks to everyone for getting this done.

PS I forgot how much a ladies man Donnie, is.   I need to hang out more with him at the races  wink

Cheers

Doug
