White Wingless Warrior at 81 Speedway!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – Park City, Kansas – March 28, 2015 - The Wingless Oklahoma Warriors opened their 2015 season this past Saturday night, March 28, at 81 Speedway in Park City, Kansas and it was Blanchard, Oklahoma driver Gil White picking up the victory before a capacity crowd. For the second year in a row the series was a support division for the NCRA winged sprint car opener and the 5th annual “Air Capital Shootout.”

Koby Barksdale and Gil White started on the front row for the twelve lap feature and it was White taking the lead as the green flag fell. Fourth starting Tim Kent settled into the runner up position with both drivers running the low side of the three-eighths mile oval.

A couple of caution flags dotted the first several laps and once racing action resumed, White had managed a six car length lead over Kent.

Barksdale, who slipped back to third on the start, went to his familiar top side of the track and would eventually catch Kent for the runner up position. With Kent down low and Barksdale up top, both drivers traded positions while White eased his way into a comfortable advantage.

Kent would take over the runner up position for good with just a couple of laps to go but there was no catching White as he went on to claim his second career series victory.

Kent settled for second while Barksdale came home third. Sixth starting Craig Carroll came home fourth while seventh starting James Fabian rounded out the top five.

Defending series champion Barksdale picked up the eight lap heat race victory.

The next event for the WOW will be this coming Saturday night, April 4, as they become a part of the season opener at Lawton Speedway in Lawton, Oklahoma. It will be the first of ten appearances at the quarter mile, red clay oval for the tour which has eighteen races slated on the 2015 schedule.
