NCRA Partners with NeSmith Weekly Late Model Series for 2015!
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – Park City, Kansas – March 11, 2015 - To keep things alive for the struggling late model division, National Championship Racing Association presented by Precise Racing Products president C Ray Hall announced Tuesday that crate motors will be allowed for the 2015 race season and those running crate motors will earn points towards the Nesmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series regional point standings.
“Last year Salina (Kansas) signed on with the Nesmith crate model deal and seeing what they had and what we had with our NCRA deal, I just felt like we needed to do something to keep late model racing alive in this area,” said Hall, “Salina runs weekly every Friday night and are sanctioned with Nesmith so our NCRA schedule will not conflict with any of those dates, giving drivers that opportunity to earn Nesmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing regional points.”
The open motors will still be allowed with NCRA and will earn NCRA points only. All crate motors will earn not only NCRA but Nesmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing regional points as well. The Nesmith regional point chase takes the best fifteen finishes that count towards a regional champion which pays $10,000 to the champion and the top ten in points. The NCRA will continue to have their championship point battle with both open and crate motor competitors earning points for an NCRA championship. All 2015 NCRA late model events will pay $1000 to win and $200 to start, the maximum set by Nesmith.
When mulling over options, C Ray contacted promoters at Thunder Hill Speedway in Mayetta, Kansas as well as RPM Speedway in Hays, Kansas with Thunder Hill quickly scheduling two shows.
“We fell this is the best of both worlds allowing both crate and open motors to compete and try to make it affordable for both the drivers and to book more shows. There are a lot of crate motors to the north of us and with Northern Texas and Southern Oklahoma allowing crate motors for 2015, this gives those drivers a chance to race more often.”
The first event on the 2015 NCRA late model schedule will be on Saturday night, May 30, at 81 Speedway in Park City. Currently there are ten races scheduled with more possibly announced soon.
