One reason is Knoxville raced this weekend , they were off last weekend ,5 to 8 cars would of been up here Sat. night if things would of been drier. Shane Stewart wouldn't of stayed around a week , Gregg Bakker runs Kville. weekly now. Bottom line is would of lost cars & fans = lost income for the promoter who isn't doing this for charity.

with 5,000 to win im thinking you prob. would of got the guys who arent in the point hunt at kville and bakker isnt really in the hunt for points or rookie of the year so im thinking you would of had him all in all you would of maybe lost 3-4 cars and prob. still had 30 cars on hand

It's over, canceled with no rain date. Let it go. There will always be other races to attend. We saw some great IRA Sprint Car racing last night at Rice Lake. Do like I do and try something different. I drive all the way from north of the Twin Cities to Jackson, you should get up this way and check out the IRA. The Richert Memorial at Cedar Lake coming up on September 8 is one of my favorite races of the season and I highly recommend it. Bring your tent or camper and help us usher in the Sunday morning sunshine through bleary eyes.
The WoO Princeton National the first Friday/Saturday of October is a dandy as well. You know how the WoO cars tend to string out single file on the big half miles? Well, all bets are off at Princeton, it's bullring racing at it's best. Nobody walks away from Princeton disappointed, WoO cars on that track rock. The Jackson Nationals final night would have been potentially a good one but it's certainly not the last race of the 2007 season.

are you kidding stan...you the one always pissing and moaning about how you cant get to races for one reason or another. you make 1 trip to jackson and you've got nerve to tell other to "try something different"...lol. everybody looks forward to the nationals and to basicly not have the big night run doesnt sit well with alot of people. you need to get over yourself and relax a little. and by the way...dont bother replying with your 1000 word essays about your life story..we've all heard it before.

Yeah Stan, save your breath.
Jackson fans (and drivers) generally don't support other tracks beside Rock Rapids & Husets.

well i guess that post went south...but hey it is one of those deals that doesnt sit well when you know it could of been made up but they just go ahead and cancel it. that is one reason why jackson will never be anything more then just a little dirt track in the middle of nowhere, because they just dont try to get the races in..i know im prob. gonna get a response like why dont i try to be a promoter, and i would if i would of won that powerball the other night but so much for that...but i do try to support other tracks i go to knoxville, rock rapids, husets and other area tracks when they run sprint car specials...

There has never been 5-8 Knoxville cars show up at Jackson for anything. Greg is 11th in points at Knoxville. I'm not sure what the top 10 will get you but he has a shot to crack the top 10 with 1 week to go. Not sure what he would have done but he would have been a top contender for the $5,000.00 at Jack's son. Saturday sure was nice wasn't it?

My guess is he lost his ass running the Thursday night show, paying out slightly over 12K in purse, with few people in the stands.
If the fendered car fans cant do any more support than what showed up on Thursday night, then they should be lucky to even have a place to race.
Fridays night show may have made him some money, couldve been a toss. I dont know.
Greg Bakker won at Jackson on Friday night, and was up against running Husets Gold Cup on Saturday and Sunday, (which was also a points race for Husets racers) and was going to stay at Jackson for the finale on Saturday, had it been run.
Also, Dobesh is/was ROY at Knoxville, and 2nd in points overall in the 360s. My guess is, he wouldve opted for Kville.
To run the Saturday any night other than the 11th with the advertised purse, would've been financial suicide.
Had he made it up on the 18th, it wouldve been nothing more than a regular weekly show, with a regular sized crowd, which wouldve been extremely costly to the promotor.
Does that mean that I'm not disappointed that the final night did not get run, sure. But I understand the liabilities involved in trying ot make it up and agree with the decision.
I didnt see the Rubins trying to make up their 10K to win Gold Cup.
I didnt see Terry McCarl trying to run his $30,000 to win non_wing show on Sunday after the Knoxville Nationals, even with 30,000 fans in the vicinity.

not to mention the wingless sprints and a mods... or did you forget they ran that night as well?
either way i thought thursday wasnt to bad fan or car count wise considering it was a thursday. anytime you can pull 30 plus cars in 2 different classes on a thursday your doing something right.

Didnt forget, I just lumped that group as a whole into the fendered fans. Me bad.
I had no problem with the car count, just the front gate attendance, which doesnt really matter to me either, but it may have had some bearing on whether the risk to run a rain date on the finals or not.
If anything, for what its worth,I thought the wingless sprints were probably the most guilty of not bringing much to the front gate.
I went, not for any one class....
Its the Jackson Nationals.....

hey football if he goes and runs that show the next weekend with the same purse your "little dirt track in the middle of nowhere" will become "where they have the chuck wagon races in jackson" last year after karpowitz left people weren't exactly lining up for the opportunity to promote at jackson just a thought, i was as disappointed as everyone else but sometimes reality sucks

This picture of the '93 Ranger was taken four years ago alongside the Weenie Wagon. There was a little less rust and a little more pep in the old boy (both of us) back then. On this year's trip to the Jackson Nationals the ol' Ranger was pretty tired trying to go 70 and it's getting tougher at my age driving without cruise or air. When I say I appreciate people buying an occasional 8x10 for gas and hot dog money I'm not kidding (but I secretly spend it all on beer). That's my son Les getting in shape for the Richert Memorial. They should have given me a medal and a heroes welcome for making it to Jackson and back in the Ranger.

Stan,
In this day of the internet, copy and paste, digital cameras, you'd probably be better off selling the trophy girl pictures, rather than the race car ones.
By the way..... are you going to post those pictures or just save them for yourself? Dont go saying you've deleted them. hehehe
sprintr Lets see. Weekly sprint car shows... 54 miles to Rock Rapids on Friday night. 21 miles to Jackson on Saturday night, 100 miles to Husets on Sunday nights. Kind of a no brainer, isnt it?

My website is at my gotomn.com domain and the Jackson photos have been in the gallery since the morning of August 18. If you didn't know that you should check it out because it's got a large history section and photo gallery. As far as this board goes it's a service provided to people who have websites by the hoseheadforums.com. I just use it as the message board service for my site and check the posts occasionally to make sure there's no profanity or slanderous posts. It's not actually part of the website that I maintain, they do all the maintenance on the board.
Here's one of my pics of the Jackson trophy presenters. The reason they look confused is that they're waiting for tech to declare a winner
