Will we see dodge 6.1 hemis in sprints someday like they allow LS engines. I think they'd have potential.

Have you ever seen the size of a Hemi engine? No way would that thing fit in a chassis.

You could go back to the single tube/truss frame of the 60s/early 70s and the hemi would fit. Wouldn't be competitive, but it'd "have a hemi in it"

I thought that when they first came out, but haven't seen them used successfully in ANY form of racing

Years ago, sometime in the mid 60's, a Hemi showed up at Little Springfield, Illinois and an unknown (at least to me) driver was driving the sprint car. It never had much success as no one could beat it down the straights but it just didn't make the turns very well. Probably a weight distribution issue. Do any of you old farts remember this car? If so, please comment. During the same period there was also a sprint car with a blower that showed up a few times. Does anyone remember anything about that one? One of the hotshoes at time was running an injected buick engine. I don't recal his name, maybe Hollingworth?? These were the days of Larry Cannon, Storman Norman Jones, Don Branson, Jim Moehaun (sp?), Dick Gains, Sheldon Kinser and a host of others.

I liked that "run what you brung" era
I've seen a blower car at Knoxville Museum & also a Chrysler hemi at Kville & EMMR. I think it was driven by an African American woman who was fairly successful. But that was the old hemi

The new "Hemi" doesn't look any bigger than an LS. The Ford modular on the other hand with it's OHC's. I think it'd be cool to introduce new engines.

A 360 hemi would fit. A 426 Hemi would not without mods. But there have been chassis with mods for decades.

Right, the 5.7 or 6.1, but not the old 426. That thing is a drag racing boat anchor.

My brother said Ron Shuman used to race a car in CRA years ago with a blown engine.

It would be nice to see more variety in engines in sprints. I think the rules at a lot of tracks and sanctioning bodies kill experimenting with the newer engines.

Not sure about sprint cars, but in the 60s dirt modifieds (jalopies, coupes, "hotrods") were "run what you brung" with points leader starting all the way back. It was great.
My intro to dirt track racing was at Eastside Speedway in Waynesboro Va. All sorts of different homebuilt cars, variety of engines. Smokey Stover ran a 33 coupe with Corvette 327, factory fuel injection, starting from the back, he won something like 22 out of 24 races in 1962. Fought his way thru almost every time...
Run whatcha brung, total inversion.... if you can spend a fortune on your engine, you will have your work cut out for you as a driver....
