Look out here comes the BOSS non-wing sprint car group  from  Ohio . While there are no big names in this group of drivers ,they are putting on quality shows , getting good car counts of there members and other non-wing drivers who want to race.  Ohio, Indiana, , Pennsylvania, and now West Virginia are states that are on there schedule this year and next year  maybe even more dates ? This group originally  started with only a short schedule and now a 22 race agenda , not bad for a relatively new bunch of  non-wing drivers from Ohio .

Never have I been dissapointed in a Boss show.  Averaged 37 cars last year.  Usually 4-5 heats taking top three and two or three consis taking top top two or three. Smile

Just a thought but pointing out that "There are no big names" isn't the best thing to say when promoting, if for no other reason, its kind of demeaning to the regular racers. Its like selling your house and saying "Its ugly as hell but it sure is a good house".

I've seen BOSS races with Chris Windom, Brady Bacon, Robert Ballou, Matt Westfall, and others.  Plus, like Chuck, every BOSS race I've been to has been very good, with or without any heavy-hitters.  Don't have to have "big names" to have great racing.

They all have my respect for strapping in those monsters!!

As long as it doesn't become too top heavy and full of itself it can overtake USAC. Given the success it has had and  enough time and the correct leadership this series could rule midwest non wing racing.  Its a racers' series not a top down organizational approach.

I'm not sure if you meant to respond to my comment directly or if you just hit reply. My comment had nothing to do with whether there are big names or not racing the series, this winning drive claims to have such great promoting skills yet he promotes this series and alienates the drivers in it by saying "No big names", I don't care if there is or isn't, its an unnessecary statement. If I drove in the series, I wouldn't be happy to see someone say that, maybe nationally there not known but they could be regional stars or even stars in their own mind.

I am sure most of the drivers will not be offended  by what I said , it is a great series and run by a class act Mr. Aaron Fry and yes it does have alot of future potential as a up coming  series to watch and attend . Many drivers do attend and race this series  often, as  there are often not  enough dates by another non-wing series  to make a living for full time racers.
Please restrict your opinions about me and stay to the topic , thanks and do take in a BOSS event when you can .

Im somewhat aware of Winning Drives outragious comments in several threads and I even find it funny the   DOOMED statement.

He's not entirely wrong in his statements but isn't right either.  There are several Track Champions running with BOSS and several guys while not known USACers or people known for winning 10-20 races a year, But can be a threat on any night and can certainly race their way from deep to podiums.

Brandon Spithaler is winning both Winged and Non Winged.   Darn near lapped the field at one track,  Probabably would have won Montpilier but crashed.   I call him a GREAT RACER and noticed him the first time I seen him in 2012.

Bacon, Ballou, Leary and others have raced BOSS shows.  And with a core group of over15 and usually closer to 25.  Car counts at times are AWESOME consiering most purses aren't meant to draw the NAMES.

Aaron Fry and the racers in the group have created a great series and a show any track would be proud to host.  I'd say I've seen about 15 BOSS shows now.  Most have been 30+ in car counts with a few in the 40s-50s counts

GO SEE EM!   Grass roots, Non Wing Racing as it should be!

Thank you for your comments , I was aware of the drivers who ran with BOSS , but I didn't want to mention names for other reasons . I suggest that you see or contact Mr.Fry regarding some issues . I will say this as I stated in my opening
comment ,Boss is in the process of expanding where they will run in 2016 . They are putting on good shows with less rules and are showing a trend which could benefit drivers and promoters in booking new shows. Costs continue to rise for teams and this not the way to go . Cost cutting measures are becoming more necessary , so that racing can become fair and balanced.

It's about time Ohio decided to get back to their roots. Back in the day Indiana, Ohio, and Pennsylvania was the circuit for big time racing and the poor souls in Ohio and Pennsylvania lost their way. BIG GRIN!
There's also a non wind group within Oklahoma's OCRS, and that's right in the middle of  Emmett Hahn's winged country, and their doing pretty well too.. Danny Smith was crowned the 2014 Non-Wing champion

Waynesfield, Ohio has been running non wing for quite awhile now & is the only track that runs them weekly. Boss took a few drivers from there & when not running Boss they come back. Average car count on the past couple of years have been in the 30 to 32 range. The cool thing is you never know who will show up.

Cool that Limaland picked them up for a race there June 5th. Hope it stays dry that night !!!

Mike Miller from Wapak is a past Lawrenceburg track champion & won the Boss series in 2014. He ran both winged & non winged for a few years but now pretty much runs non wing.

Bigfish, OCRS ran approx. 3 non-wing races last year. Whereas the WOW series, Wingless Oklahoma Warriors, ran twenty plus shows. The WOW averaged about 15 to 16 cars in it's first year as a series. Koby Barksdale was the series champ for 2014. OCRS is not running any non wing this year and WOW has a full schedule starting with 81 speedway in March as a support class to the NCRA 5000 to win 360 show. The WOW series will see 20 plus cars in 2015 with a majority of those from last year returning.

Thanks, not sure why that was omitted.... Maybe I shouldn't post at 4 in the moerning when my brain is on auto pilot, or not.. If you go to Oklahoma tidbits site you'll see that, David Smith Jr, has been keeping up with them....http://www.hoseheadforums.com/forum.cfm?forumId=8m....
