David Jones the wisecracks made by yourself proved to be very correct. I don't mean that in a bad way........just sayin you were really really...............right. and I was wrong. Although I think I knew that earlier than today. Looks like Swenson shoulda got his motors from WESMAR. LOL.

The Good: Great job to ASCS for putting their foot down on this sort of thing. Too many do it and get away with it and to tell a points leader to hit the road sends the right message.

The Bad : Did ascs really have to mention Charlie Fisher in this deal? That seems in extremely POOR TASTE as that guy is just operating a business and was only delivering what the client asked and paid for. Charlie Fisher is not bound by ASCS rules..........he doesn't race. Chuck Swenson does. Chuck Swenson is bound by ASCS rules. Customers go to an engine builder and tell them what they want......it's not the engine builders place to make a driver follow the rules. He could advise it for sure. But it's just not his place. All an engine builder does is build what his customer wants and is paying for. Unless he or his shop is a title sponsor for that particular race series he doesn't have to build motors to their specifications. If a customer wants an illegal motor.......then that is exactly what he will get. Charlie Fisher is running a business.........and he or his business doesn't have to answer to ASCS. Why Charlie Fisher's name is being slandered for building what a customer wanted is BS. That illegal motor is ALL on Swenson. So if someone can answer it.........what purpose does it serve to mention Charlie Fisher's name?

The Ugly: This kinda implies Swenson was illegal for the last full year - and probably all of last season as well en route to his Northern Plains title. That looks pretty bad.

Like I said once a cheater always a cheater. You don't go from being a middle or back of the pack runner to winning or runing up front every night for no reason. I have seen this guy race since the early 90's when he came from tractor pulling and he USUALLY couldn't hit his butt. On another note I agree with you(that really sucks) that ASCS didn't really need to call Fisher out. But I think most people are smart enough to realise that a motor builder wouldn't just build an illegal engine without the paying customer knowing. I am pretty sure that most engine builders have built illegal engines because you have to build what the customer wants. That is their business, so I don't look at Charlie Fisher as a bad builder, he was probably just building what Swenson wanted.

P.S. You can give a written letter of apology to JD and he will get it to me.

lol. I don't know if I'll have enough time to write one up. But yeah let it be known to all (without searching through posts from over a year ago) that you were right.......and I was wrong. Last year I talked to some Knoxville folk and formed an opinion about last year's Brodix deal without really listening to other facts as well. My mistake. Seems Swenson has probably been illegal in probably every race at least since the beginning of last season, or at least that has to be assumed.. I think it still takes talent to pilot a sprint car effectively no matter what is under the hood, but what is under the hood makes a big difference in where you finish. For him it was probably the difference between finishing 15th or top 5. And it probably won him that champonship last year. Man how ironic it woulda been if he hadn't got caught up in lapped traffic at Knoxville and won this years Brodix race.......he woulda been DQ'd for the 2nd year in a row. lol.

I hope they start bustin more people for this kind of thing..........it's always great to see rules enforced.

As far as your apology. lol. If you want one that bad stroll up to where JD sits and he'll direct you the 20 feet to the North. You might as well rub it in. lol. If Tanner (the fella that goes to Knoxville with us) is wearing his Brodix shirt that Swenson signed last year (shortly before he was dq'd) then you can join me in laughing at him. I have one too but it sits in the extreme back of my closet.lol. Come Devil's Bowl I'm gonna get Gary Wright to sign it since he won that Brodix last year.

OKCFan, it may suck that they called out Charlie Fisher but it is what it is.

We have had customers ask if we could do a little "extra" work to their heads, but we just won't do it!!

From what I have heard and my source is very close to the situation said that Chuck had 3 engines that had illegal heads on them.  He sent 2 of them back to get legal heads but couldn't afford to get the third engine done which just happened to be the one he had in this past weekend.  He accepted the penalties but also said the he wished they (ASCS) would catch more people.  Umm, I personally think that ASCS and their respective regional directors are doing a pretty good job of teching people.

Simple solution: Don't Cheat!!!!

with all due respect Kelly - in your honest opinion do you think it was bad business on Fisher's part to build those heads?
