I never thought I would be saying this but the 17 team is done for good. After two engine problems in a month, the second being worse than originally thought, I cannot afford to get back out this year. And after some number crunching and a lot of thinking I have decided to hang it up for good.
I don't want to plead poverty but the cost of running is definitely a huge factor. Since I started racing pit passes have more than doubled and the price of gas has more than tripled, cars and tires aren't cheap either! Too bad the payouts haven't kept pace.
I need to thank Blair Macdonald, Chris Egeland, Dave Verplaetse, and my dad Sig for all the time and effort they have put into this team. Without Blair I probably would have quit 7 years ago from being burnt out. Without Chris we probably would never have made into the top ten. Without my Dad I would never have made it out there at all.
As of right now everything is for sale. The trailer, 3 cars (including the new XXX), tools, and a ton of spares (most are new or fresh). I will try to get a list up in the for sale section soon but if anyone needs or is interested in anything let me know at (204)947-1253 or (204)794-7991. I am planning to bring the trailer down on August 31 and I would like to sell as much as possible before the winter.
I would like to thank everyone who ever helped me out over the years especially Bob Martin, John Egeland, Gary Bridgeford, Jason & Skinny Linnel, Scott & Tom Mcdonald & Andy, and Reese & the K9 crew. I also need to thank the best sprint car fans around; Brian, Gordy, and Ryan. Diehards who always had something nice to say no matter how bad I stunk it up on the track!
Sorry for the long rant, good luck to everyone. See ya at the races, save a beer for me.

That's too bad Dave!! Enjoyed watching you race in the area over the years. I also remember watching you're dad when I was a kid the night his car end up in the Winnipeg Speedway Lake. I thought your new XXX looked pretty good out there. No doubt sprint car racing has become an expensive addiction. We have now lost two teams in the Winnipeg area over the summer. I believe Richard has called it quits as well. Just being a diehard fan has gotten more expensive over time too. All the trips South of the border for myself over the years have added up, but I wouldn't trade them for the world. See you at the races. All the best
