The Renegades are Coming….
Hemby Bridge, NC – Brandon and Jacob McLain of McLain Motorsports went North to Indianapolis last week to the greatest motorsports tradeshow in the world, the Performance Racing Industry, also known as PRI with a two simple goals to accomplish.
Goal one was to convince our good friend, Doug of Bloomington, Indiana, to sneak us into Karl Kinser’s shop. We wanted to get a few pics of the Steve Kinser driven Coors Light sprinter that won 59 races in... 1989. Seeing as how it was 7AM in morning, I guess we should have expected Karl to be in there working on the door hinge of a 1962 Bel Air. After three hours of picture taking, an hour seminar on horsepower, some dry slick setup advice, and Mark Kinser ragging on a young Donny Schatz, it was time for Doug to go to work before Karl put us to work!
Goal two was to walk into PRI in our finest flannel shirts and cargo pants to convince Steve Chrisman and Capitol Renegade to join our team for the 2015 season as marketing partners. After an excruciating five minutes of negotiations behind a semi-closed curtain, we were able to convince Steve that we might be a good fit for their southern movement! After several uncomfortably nervous handshakes, McLain Motorsports walked away all smiles and ready to start our search for a really tall cold Coors Light…
Mission Accomplished…
In 2015, fans and competitors can expect to see Brandon’s 21B and Jacob’s 67 winged sprint cars making appearances all across the Southeast chasing Pete Walton’s United Sprint Car Series Southern Thunder Tour. When the schedule allows, Jacob can be found racing 305’s as far as Bloomington Speedway. Brandon’s fascination with wingless sprints might land him in Indiana a time or two next season as well…
As for Capitol Renegade Custom Trailers, McLain Motorsports couldn’t be prouder to know they’ll be blazing up and down I-85 all next season with one of the sleekest trailers on the motorsports market in tow. Steve Chrisman and crew have treated the McLain’s with nothing but class since Day One and hope to be a part of their future success in the south for years to come…
As for Karl Kinser… Yes, dad is currently looking for a biscuits and gravy sponsorship to help save money next year feeding his two “big ole boys.”
