The MOWA Sprint Car Series presented by Casey's General Stores and the Lucas Oil POWRi National Midget Series join forces for a specal Championship weekend for both series at Lincoln Speedway and Jacksonville Speedway this Friday and Saturday October 10th and 11th.

Friday October 10th - Lincoln Speedway

When is the last time a single racing card featured 410 winged sprint cars, national midgets and super late models? That's what's in store this Friday at Lincoln Speedway as the MOWA Sprints and POWRi Midgets are joined by the Midwest Big Ten Super Late Model series.  The night will markthe championship night for the Big 10 late models and will be the second to final race for both MOWA sprints and POWRi midgets.  Also in action are DIRTcar Stock Cars. Hot laps are at 6:15 with racing at 7:00.

Saturday October 11th - Jacksonville Speedway

The MOWA Sprints, POWRi Midgets and Micros conclude their season as a part of the Inaugural Ron Milton Race of Champions - honoring Jacksonville's favorite sprint car driver and long-time co-promoter of Jacksonville Speedway, Ron Milton, who passed away earlier this year.   The event will also feature a day of Nostalgia with vintage car and memorabilia displays organized by Jacksonville track historian Wayne Stearns.   We are starting the program at Jacksonville an hour earlier than normal with Micro and Street Stock heats at 6:00 and a target of starting the Sprint/Midget/Modified part of the program at 7:00 in order to allow our local classes to participate in the event but allowing the traveling fan to primarily watch the core of the open wheel program at the normal start time.

The Jacksonville event is reserving a tenative rain-date for the following night Sunday October 12.

A great field of the Midwest's best open wheel drivers have indicated they plan to attend this event with several planning to do double duty in both a sprint car and midget.  Grandstand admission each night is $25 with ages 11-18 jus $7 and kids 10 and under Free.

Didn't it pay $2500 at Lincoln and $4000 at Jacksonville last year? $2000 to win is a joke for this race.

As you well know Mr. Eskew, we didn't have this race last year.  Last year was a sprint car race. This year is the Championships for both MOWA and POWRi.   Totally different show.  Whether you like these two series sharing the same stage or preferred the higher paying sprint car show without the midgets depends on your personal preference.   The cost of the show went up... not down this year.

I see you did your homework. $2000 to win will not attract many non regulars that the fans like to see.

Terry McCarl and Cole Wood have both nights on their schedule, and Chris Bell has Friday on his (so we could also possibly see Rico Abreu if the KKM cars are at Lincoln because he has nothing on his schedule Friday). I'd also expect to see a few of the Powri guys run double duty. There is plenty sprint car racing in Ohio this weekend so you cant expect to draw any of those cars and I-80 speedway in Nebraska is going to draw a lot of the Knoxville cars. Having Powri and MOWA on the same card is going to draw more fans to these races and probably help the car count in the sprints more than only having sprints and paying a little more to win.

Yes.  We are starting to get some crossover between MOWA and POWRi.  I'll leave a few out by mistake but guys like Austin Brown, Jake Blackhurst, Seth Motsinger, Parker Price-Miller, Joe B. Miller etc now bring sprints to a POWRi show.  We race in each other's back yards all summer and have a great relationship between MOWA and POWRi. Not much sense on competitng with each other for Championship races when we can just have one big party together.

I agree with you that MOWA and POWRI together put on a great show. I just would like to see MOWA get a little more respect in the payout of races. Granite City was going to be a 2k to win 200 to start show for 2 nights while the midgets were running for big money and this week MOWA is running with the midgets for the same standard MOWA purse. Just would like to see MOWA get a little more $$$ when running with other groups.

From a fans perspective I agree, great show with winged sprints and midgets on the card.

POWRI pulled out this morning. They will not be there. They did the same thing at Wilmot with the IRA earlier in the season.

Totally UNTRUE.  Where do you make this stuff up?

POWRI IS RACING THIS WEEKEND AT LINCOLN AND JACKSONVILLE ALONG WITH MOWA SPRINTS AND OTHER CLASSES.

If I could find you and kick you right square in the groin.... I would.  There is no sense in posting crap like this.  Probably 100 people read your BS and they are going to tell people who tell people etc.   Instead of posting this junk... call me.  Call Kenny Brown.   The only two people who could pull the plug are he and I.  We've talked this morning and not even a thought of doing anything except racing this weekend.

The weather is shaping up nice.  The rain is pretty well out of the forecast for the weekend.  We are supposed to actually have sun on Saturday.   Hope to see many of you tonight at Lincoln and Saturday at Jacksonville for a great show!

For future reference... when you hear a rumor like this... before you tell the whole world, call me.  Ken Dobson 217-371-3653.   Now ILSPRINTS, do me a favor.  Find a way to round me up however many fans you have run off.

I'm thinking it was Badger that pulled out at Wilmot.

I think you're right maddog, I'm pretty sure Badger pulled out at Wilmot, not Powri.

Ken, I don't know how you do it. Every time you put on a race you're met with negativity and complete BS and lies. I'm glad you do keep going and putting on races. You guys have done nothing but good things for racing in Illinois and MOWA has saved sprint cars in Illinois. Just a few years ago we had one track running sprints part time and now we have a healthy series that keeps on growing. I'll keep doing my part and keep coming to the track and the real race fans will too.

I'm excited about the racing this weekend. There's Sprints and Midgets together which I love. It'll be a bit chilly but not bad at all and that just means the tracks should be in good shape and the cars will be making big horse power.

So these races pays 410 sprints 200,000 pennies to win, 20,000 pennies to start? It sounds better than $2000 to win $200 to start!

Don't know how any fan could complain about that program.  Sprints midgets and late models all on one card.  heading south in a couple hours.  The

I was told that Jackslash tweeted it this morning. Not throwing them under the bus but finding their tweet on the subject:

"POWRI has informed us that they decided to cancel both of their MAVTV midget tapings this weekend in Illinois so we will not be making the trip to Lincoln or Jacksonville Illinois."

Then it took off from there being initially read wrong. Sorry for getting you riled up Ken and I hope you all have a good show.

No one is winning this discussion guys, I just went to both events and seen some damn good racing.  POWRI Midget race was probably one of the best I have seen and Trust Me, I have seen a few of them.

Concerning the cost of the shows and payout, there is one way to settle that once and for all, Owners are not forced to go anywhere and race, they race because they love it.  I might remind you, that MOWA had 41 Sprinters at Lincoln last night and MOWA and POWRI is one of the nicest marriages I have seen in the midwest for quite sometime.  It is a perfect fit, for all open wheel fans and racers alike, as alot of them are starting to take up double duty, it was also very refreshing to see Hunter Schurenburg, Kevin Thomas Jr. and a few others take the wing off and run with MOWA.   I also agree, that 2000 bucks is not alot for a 410 Sprint Car show, but in the same breath, we also must remember, when the purse goes up, so do ticket prices, food prices, and NOW YOU KNOW THE REST OF THE STORY.
