After tweeting a question to Johnny he was kind enough to answer. I know he's pretty humble and would never toot his own horn so I figured I would do it for him. When he calls the race on Friday at the Grove that will be 1600 WoO races in a row. WOW!!! Thanks Johnny!!!

Just to clarify: Friday at Williams Grove will be my 1600th consecutive WoO race. (Last race I missed was Syracuse/Rolling Wheels in October of 1995). But I didn't start announcing unti 1997. In 1996 I was just selling programs. Also--during my first couple of seasons, I didn't actually call the races at every event: Sometimes I basically just read the "commercials" for the series sponsors. So I honestly dont know how many consecutive races I've called, or even how many total. But I DO know the last one I missed.

I'll second that with another big thanks, Johnny Gibson. You're, in my opinion, the best announcer across all of motorsports. I think you could make a race between two banana slugs sound exciting.

Thanks for your efforts sir.
Luna's Ford engine style that won 2 WoO titles and 3
Kings Royals before a weight rule against the best EVER
in their prime and now DOMINATES super dirt late model
racing is no longer allowed/wanted in a WoO sprint
car.... Was Luna a miracle worker?

This is absolutely incredible considering he never called in sick, had laryngitis, hangover or whatever.
The best in the business & a true professional for sure.

No one and I mean no one even comes close to JG at calling a race. He is as much a part of the Outlaws as anyone! I hope to hear JG at least 1600 more times!

We once had the opportunity to be seatmates on a flight to Australia with the one...the ONLY
John Gibson and his Party animal buddy, J.D.Kramer, on the unforgettable tour of our lives.
The year was 2001 and we were also privileged to meet Peter Physick and Peter Hansen, tour
directors par excellence.Who knew that John's bell like tones would become THE most identifiable
sound in present day auto racing ? "OFTEN IMITATED BUT NEVER DUPLICATED " !!!!!!
Thanks,John,for the memories.

Johnny is also a good follow on Twitter. His tweets are always interesting. I espically like it when he tweets about going to races as a fan. You would think that someone who makes his living at the race track would do something else on a night off, but you would be surprised the number of races that he will attend as a fan.

Congrats to the Iron Man Of The Microphone.
One of the great things about being a part of the show are the connections and friends you meet across the vast expanse of this Earth. I can go on forever, but seeing familiar faces in unfamiliar climates all wrapped around these damn cars going in circles thing is possibly the greatest perk of the sport. Johnny has become the World of Outlaws. He's the face of the franchise, the one you can count on each and every night to bring the best he's got and be consistently great. Anyone who had the privilege of seeing Johnny's setup at Terre Haute this year knows how dedicated he is to his profession. Any compliment he receives is well earned and deserved. Plus, he's both a Drive By Truckers and Two Cow Garage fan and plays Social Distortion on parade laps. How can you hate on the guy?

I have a question! How old is the "You wanted the best, You got em 4 abreast..." Trademark introduction... Is it 1600 races old?

WoO fans can only hope that Mr. Gibson writes a book--or a volume of them after he hangs up the microphone. Every time I hear his parade lap announcing I get goosebumps.
