B. Wimmer?? please don't include him in a list of nor-cal drivers. He was only out here this year practicing taking guy's out so he would have it perfected for Knoxville!

I was talking to Jason Botsford on Thursday and he is heading to Skagit in a few days and plans to race in all the races thru Gold Cup.

TK was a regular WOO tour driver at the time. When was the last time a driver like BK, J. Allard or R. Day won a WOO west coast race. The only non tour driver to win this year has been Brian Leppo at the Groove in PA.

It's been a while. I guess the last time that you could consider a true California local winning was when TK won in 2003 at Hanford. He won in '04 a handful of times but was more or less a traveler as he drove for Roth.

We hardly ever get to run with WOO so it puts us at a huge disadvantage. If they came out here as much as they do PA I have no doubt we'd run better like the Posse do.

Oh and JA has never won at Outlaw race and I don't think Day has either(if he has it's been a long time). I don't believe BK has won a WOO race since 97 or 98.

Not sure if they still do it, but, the WoO record books didn't count a prelim. night win. They only counted the final night. The winner of a one night show was counted, and shows up in their records.

Bk won in Santa Maria in 97. That is where Jason got his win too. Ronnie doesn't have any A feature wins. He ran 2nd at Watsonville in 2000 (Looked like he had a shot in Vegas that year but they scrubbed the event after heats/dash -rough track-). Before BK you need to go back to Tim Green (7 career) or Chuck Miller (1) at Baylands.

Darrell Hannestad won the Gold Cup in 1989 on a Wednesday night after rains screwed up the schedule. I believe many of the regular WOO teams had left town because of scheduling.

I don't recall any of the WoO teams heading out before the 1989 Gold Cup finale that ran on Wednesday. It was the year of the USA split so Steve Kinser, Sammy Swindell, Dave Blaney and a few others were not there to begin with.

I think Jeff Swindell finished second to Hannestad.

Did Chuck Miller win at Baylands? Or in Arizona?

I believe Chuck Miller won at Petaluma around 84 or 85. What about "Quick" Nick Rescino in 79 at West Cap, during the Gold Cup?

Johnny Anderson and Jimmy Sills also won a few in the late 70's and early 80's.

Chuck Miller won in Arizona.

Rescino's win was the first night of the Mini Gold Cup, June 8, 1979 in his Super Modified.

Did Hannestad also score a win in the southwest driving Darryl Saucier's #1st?

I thought I had read somewhere that some of the teams had left. I had forgotten about the split between the two organizations. It was certainly a weird year and sprint car racing.

That's funny what you said about Wimmer! I wonder if he will be at Calistoga, Gold Cup, and Tulare with the Beef Packers car? If so, watch out!

Looking forward to the new Golden State King of the
West series schedule!
