Powers Leads NCRA Modified Division to Belleville This Sunday Night!

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – Park City, Kansas – August 26, 2014 - Fresh off his victory this past Saturday night at Route 66 Motor Speedway in Amarillo, Texas, Dan Powers leads the National Championship Racing Association of Park City, Kansas presented by Precise Racing Products modified division to their annual Labor Day, Sunday (August 31) destination; the Belleville High Banks Speedway in Belleville, Kansas this coming weekend.

The series’ sprint car and late model divisions will also be competing and for this event, USRA rules are welcome. However there will be no mixing and matching of rules.

Powers has notched two victories in a row, including the prestigious Hutchinson Grand Nationals in Hutchinson, Kansas. His lead is slim; however, as former two-time and defending tour champion Marc Hurd sits just ten points out of the lead. Superior, Nebraska veteran Jon Thompson sits just forty points out of the lead while Jason McGehee and Kirby Robe sit fourth and fifth respectively. Hurd picked up the victory here back over the 4th of July weekend for his first and only win of the season.

Josh Lanterman, Chris Pitts, Justin Moler, Cuyler Calkin and Don Hodge sit sixth through tenth in the standings with Pitts holding a slim 16 point lead over Calkin in the rookie of the year standings.

Other drivers who have reached victory lane include: Thomas Tillison, Jr. and Brian Franz (2), Thompson and Ryan Gustin.

After this Sunday night at Belleville only three more dates remain on 2014 race schedule, all at 81 Speedway in Park City.

Sunday night at the Belleville High Banks will see gates open at 5:00 PM with race time slated for a 7:30 PM start time. The Belleville High Banks is located 2.0 miles north of US 36 on US 81, then 0.4 mile southeast on M St. to 7th St., then 0.1 mile east (near the water tower, at the North Central Kansas Fairgrounds). Grandstand general admission is just $20 for adults and $10 for kids.
