AFTER SIX WEEKS OFF CALIFORNIA LIGHTNING SPRINT CAR SERIES RETURNS TO PERRIS!
(Torrance, CA, August 11, 2014) After six weeks off, the California Lightning Sprint Car Series returns to action this Saturday night, August 16th, at the “California’s Racer’s Hall of Fame Night” at Perris Auto Speedway. Joining the CLS on the quadruple header program will be the USAC/CRA Sprint Cars, PAS Senior Sprint Cars and the PAS Young Gun Sprints. Spectator gates will open at 5:00 pm with racing at 7:00.
Fort Irwin Army Sergeant Jeffrey Dyer carries a slim 20-point lead over San Diego’s Damon Arnett in the championship standings heading into Saturday’s race. Lomita’s Bobby Michnowicz, who leads the series with five wins, has closed to within 100-points of the top two. Corona rookie Corey Hoover and Murrieta’s Zach Zauss round out the top five.
In the first five races at the famous Riverside County clay oval this year, Michnowicz has three wins. Dyer and Murrieta rookie Cori Andrews both have one win
Two weeks ago at round two of the “BCRA vs CLS North vs South Civil War Series” at Placerville, Michnowicz won the main event and Dyer took fourth. Other CLS drivers who ventured north for the race were Guy Maresch of Anaheim Hills who finished 12th, Placentia’s Dan Hillberg who subbed for Arnett and finished 15th and Alex Grigoreas of Upland who took 17th. Michnowicz leads the Civil War points with Dyer second. BCRA drivers Bradley Dillard, Brian Corso and Dakota Albright round out the top five. The final race in the North vs South Series will be at Bakersfield on September 27th.
