Longdale Speedway to Host $5000 to Win Labor Day Sport Mod Blowout!

 

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – Geary, Oklahoma – August 4, 2014 - Officials with the new Longdale Speedway in Longdale, Oklahoma have announced the inaugural 100 lap, $5000 to win “Labor Day Sport Mod Blowout” scheduled over Labor Day Weekend, Friday-Sunday night, August 29-31, 2014. A unique formatand a guaranteedpurse await sport mod drivers where IMCA rules will be in effect with rules strictly enforced.

The track will host a regular point night of racing on Friday night featuring modifieds, intermediate sport mods, pure stock and stock cars. Sport mod drivers that have registered for the blow out will take place from 6:00 PM until 7:00 PM. Registration forms are available at the tracks website www.longdalespeedway.net. The order that the registration forms are received will determine qualifying order for Saturday night. And it isn’t your usual qualifying format as this unique event will see a unique form of time trials with pit stops required during lap qualifying.

Below is the itinerary and rules for the inaugural 100 lap, $5000 to win Labor Day Sport Mod Blowout” is as follows:

Friday’s format – Start at 6:00pm

  • Practice for Sport Mods registered for the Sport Mod Blowout from 6:00pm till 7:00pm
  • Track prep if needed
  • Regular point races for Pure Stock, Stock Cars, Intermediate Sport Mods and Modifieds start at 7:30PM. Regular Sport Mod class will not run.
  • Additional 30 – 45 minute practice for the Blow out Sport Mods immediately after regular show.

Saturday’s Format – Start at 6:00pm              

Single car qualifying/pit crew challenge to determine starting lineup for heat races.

  • Heat races will line up with the fastest qualifying times in the front. Example: 100 cars - 10 heats with top 10 qualifying times on each pole, and then 11 thru 20 would be outside pole and so on.
  • B- Mains
  • A- Feature will be 24 cars with top 10 finishers locking  into Sunday’s 100 lap A -Main
  • Live Band at intermission and After Race Infield Party.

Sunday’s Format – Start at 6:00pm

  • Last Chance Heat Races: Line up by Single car qualifying/pit crew challenge Inverted slow times up front. Must have participated in Saturday’s qualifying.
  • Pole Dash:  Top 10 from Saturday’s A-Main. Will draw for position.
  • Two B qualifiers:  Top 6 transfer to 100 lap A- Main Feature
  • There will be two 100 lap A-Main positions awarded to the fastest single car qualifying/pit crew challenge teams not locked in to A- Main.
  • The two final positions will be auctioned off and awarded to the highest bidder (there will be a $400.00 reserve), if not sold, positions will go un-filled. (if reason for not qualifying was black flag due to rough driving or unsportsmanlike conduct, you cannot bid)
  • 100 Lap Labor Day Feature:
    • Pit stop after 25 laps on front stretch – 20 Minutes to make any desired changes (add fuel, tires etc.)
    • Pit stop at lap 50 on front stretch - 10 Minutes to only add fuel and make adjustments (tire change or removed of tire for any reason will be a 5 position penalty. Drivers stay in car during this stop, we will have water for them.
    • 50 lap shoot out for the win.

Rules for Pit Stop and Lap Qualifying for Sport Mod $5000 To Win Blowout.

  • Must have a three member pit crew: Tire Carrier, Tire Changer and Jack Person. (Pit crew members can register with one car only!)
  • Cars will qualify in the order in which registrations are received.
  • Car will be placed in a marked area behind the time start line on the front stretch.
  • Green flag will be given and driver will proceed to pit box on opposite side of time start line. Pit crew will then change both rear tires. (Only pit tools provided by the track, i.e. battery powered impacts and jacks, will be used)
  • Driver will leave the pit box and complete one lap around the track for a total qualifying time.
  • Pit crew will wait in designated area until car has stopped in pit box, after car has stopped and engine is killed, pit crew will proceed with pit stop. After jack drops, driver can start engine but cannot leave until all Pit Crew members with all tools/tires have returned to designated area.
  • There will be officials to ensure all lug nuts are tight and in place. Must use same lug nuts for tire change that are taken off, but can carry an extra in case you lose one in the dirt. Remember, the cars with the two fastest times that do not make it into the A- Main Sunday by racing their way in, will be taken from these qualifying times
      • There will be a one second penalty for each lug nut missing when car leaves pit area.
      • There will be a five second penalty for any crew members or tools/tires not in designated area when car is in motion
  • Cars must be race ready, (body panels, bumpers, etc.)
  • The team with the fastest total qualifying time will be awarded a trophy and $100.00 to each of the pit crew members.
