It seems like we have a lot of posts about how crappy all the tracks are this year. Either the track wasn't worked right, poor scoring, poor managment, ect, ect, ect.

Are all the tracks really that bad? Did everybody over the winter raise their standards on what they expect from a track? I don't get it, but it seems to be the number one topic for this year.

What gives?

what i think is people are starting to get tired of the bad stuff going on at the tracks. tracks have always had something wrong with them, it hasnt changed. But with the price of racing and everything going up in price it seems like the people put blame on the tracks. i have put blame on a certain track myself and have payed the price but everyone has thier own opinion on how they would run a track and so in a way yes people have raised their standards. Tracks have problems just like cars. and anytime you own or run a track you re gonna make half the people happy and the other half mad. its the way of the world. If a track would ever make everyone happy there would be no other tracks to race.

Dont get mad at me, im just the pushtruck guy.

If ya don't like what is goin on there don't race there ... eventually if you standards are too high you will run out of places to race and u can sit at your shop and stare at your pretty race car ..

The guys that are runnin these tracks are bustin their rumps tryin to give the racers and the fans the best racing experience possible everythings getting higher for them too .I tip my hat to all the promoters and owners at least they are tryin to keep this sport alive by givin us a place to race !

winners dont cry when they lose , they go back to the
drawing board and come back for round 2 !

good point. no matter how much I get sick of Edwards I'm still glad to see some good racing every friday night. I don't think SFS needs a new promoter. Since Edwards has been in the game for so long he knows what he is doin. IMO just a few things really should be different. Do I think he needs to add $$ to the purse. yeah..........but you'd be hard pressed to find ANY track where fans and drivers don't think that. The only thing I'd really like to see change (aside from the rulebook of course) is the way he treats so many of his drivers. no promoter could ever keep all of his drivers happy..........but some do make the effort. Thats about all I have to say really. treat drivers with more respect.

Has anyone ever stopped to think about the many personalities Lanny has met over the years. And I mean the ones who just drove on his tracks.

It really has nothing to do with standards. Unfortunately, we have had an unusual amount of rain this race season. That is the biggest part of why all Race Tracks seem to be in bad condition, they were all simply to wet to work during the week. Most fans do not realise how much effort goes into preparing a Race Track. It's a full time job that starts early in the week to be able to race on a Friday, or a Saturday. But now that the rain has cleared it seems the latest complaints are from bad officiating, most especially at SFS. If you run ASCS there is no FAVOURITISM, if you run the weekly deal at SFS you not only have to outrun your competitors, you also have to outrun the Track Officials.(unless your one of thier favorites).

I thought the track was nearly perfect this past friday. The officiating was not on there game though. During one of the features, the flag man was waving the white flag on lap 17 and the checkered flew emediatly afterward. Then I saw the scoreboard change to 18 then 20. How is that possible?

Why do they black flag The Villain and when others get turned around they do nothing? I'm not defending The Villain but can anyone answer this question? Now, only Larry knows if it was intentional or not. I'd like to think it was hard close racing but I might be wrong. I see guys slamming into each other out there all the time. Intentional or not, only they know. Some are pretty obvious though. I'm not trying to stir the pot. I'm just adding my opinion to the original post.

I totally agree that the tracks have always had their problems. I'm just trying to figure out if it's gotten worse this year. Granted the rain didn't help with track prep or tempers, and now we are all roasting.

What is really bothering me, is the fact that so many people complain about Lawton. I'll admit I don't even go there anymore, as it's gotten rather boring to me. Now we are having the same complaints about SFS. Is SFS heading in the same direction as Lawton? I really hope not. If so, then what can be done to turn them both back around.

Sad to say, but yes. When you have the same people winning week after week, and the same fights/complaints every week...it get's old. I prefer some good competitive racing that you get to guess who might win, instead of already knowing. The only class that is exciting anymore is the modifieds. It's still competitive, but the last man standing race is beyond old so that kills the excitment for them. Not to mention, with 3 kids it's a bit hard to enjoy.

We might make it out there this weekend. Trying to decide if we want to go to Lawton or SFS.
