Celebrate Independence with a Pair of NCRA Modified Events!
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – Park City, Kansas – July 1, 2014 - A new face sits atop the current National Championship Racing Association of Park City, Kansas presented by Precise Racing Products modified division point standings as Kirby Robe of Colwich, Kansas will lead the tour into an Independence Day, double header weekend.
It all kicks off this 4th of July as 81 Speedway in Park City will host a special Friday night edition of racing that will also see the series late model division on the racing card. From there the modified tour, along with the late models, will head north to their annual July Holiday visit to the Belleville High Banks in Belleville, Kansas.
For the first time in his young racing career, Robe currently sits atop the 2014 NCRA modified point standings with a slim ten point lead after the five races that have been completed thus far this season. Jason McGehee sits in the runner up position while Nebraska veteran Jon Thompson (-55) sits third in the standings. Three-time and defending tour champion Marc Hurd and Dan Powers round out the top five.
Leading rookie of the year candidate Chris Pitts sits sixth in the standings, followed by Justin Moler, Don Hodge, Dustin Belcher and rookie contender Cuyler Calkin. Other touring regulars expected to compete in one or both events include; Josh Lanterman, Brian Franz, Nic Baalman, A.J. Brochu, Rodney Chaffin, Tyler Shearhod and Robbie Simmons.
Through the five events that have been completed, thirteen drivers have competed in each event, including the top eleven in the standings, while only six drivers have missed one show.
Feature winners include: Thomas Tillison, Jr. (2); Ryan Gustin, Jon Thompson and Brian Franz.
Gates for Friday night at 81 Speedway will open at 5:00 PM with racing set to start at 7:00 PM. 81 Speedway is located north of Wichita on I-135 to exit 16, then .7 mile west on 77th St. in Park City. For more race information contact the 81 Speedway office (316) 755-1781.
Saturday night at the Belleville High Banks will see gates open at 5:00 PM with race time slated for a 7:30 PM start time. The Belleville High Banks is located 2.0 miles north of US 36 on US 81, then 0.4 mile southeast on M St. to 7th St., then 0.1 mile east (near the water tower, at the North Central Kansas Fairgrounds).
